After Saturday's ride and all the comments on the state of my helmet I decided that it is time for a new one. The Bell has definately seen better days. Which helmet would you hubbers recommend? I ride lots and do not mind spending a bit of money on a decent helmet.

no one should be able to tell you. The one that is best is the one that fits best. Even within a brand the different models fit differently. I settled for a cheaper Bell Dellirium because of the fit, not the look or price tag.

I enjoy my Bell. Broke a Giro and a Laz, so they did their jobs well too. as parra says, its all in the fit.

get something with a 1/3 replacement cost policy though, its easy to fall on a mtb.

Mini hi-jack here...

Due South stores are stocking Fox equipment now - including a rather sweet looking camo-coloured lid for about R900 Souf Efrican Rond.

Not sure on the model number - anyone seen one of these/got one of them - any good?

Many ta!

The Fox Flux (?) is a nice helmet, but a bit heavy and without a lot of vents might get a bit hot for long rides.

I use one for short trail type rides, and have a Giro Atmos for road and XC.

What will you be using it for?

If I could only keep one of them - Giro no question.

Why bother with the Spez 2D - why not go for the Propero - looks the same - without the price!

I want one! Need to find who has stock!

P.S. How do you size correctly for a helmet? Hi-JACK!

I recently bought a helmet and had a budget of R1000. I tried on a few Bell's and Giro's and even the Fox one mentioned earlier. Then I was shown a black and grey Merida Locwell helmet and tried that on. Wow! It was so comfortable and has great vents. Best of all it only cost me R450.
