Put it away.  I'm choking on my stroopwafel here!!!

Legend' date=' my bike is arriving in 6 weeks from the motherland!!!  Yes, Germany made the best stiffest, lightest, yet cheapest (and pretty) bike I could find.  Who would have thought???  Very excited

with those features you just described your are most likely lucky that it's not too far to dirve when you have warranty issues! LOL

tell us more, give us pics.

Nope, it's German, it will be well built from the start!  My lips are sealed.  Ok, ok, I'll give you a revealing tip.  it will be debuting at the Tour this year, maybe even winning it!

Hendrik............

As iets met haar sou gebeur so ek ook so voel.

Hulle is in my gebede.  Sterkte pel

This thread is NOT supposed to be seen in a negative light' date=' I am just gatvol and scared for my children, other family and friends.

My son just phoned.

His father in law was attacked and assaulted and their maid was raped and robbed of her monthly pay by an armed assailant in their house today. Both the maid and my "swaer" were hurt but fortunately not seriously, the trauma remains.  I thank God that his wife were not there.

My son says that he feels that it is just not worth while living there anymore. Being newly married and with a baby on the way I cannot but completely agree with him.

The thing who attacked them spoke flawless Tswana and preferred to be addressed in Afrikaans. He made off with the maid's salary, a cellular phone, a laptop, a PDA and DVD player. The Police acted swiftly and started tracking him on the cellular phone. Just as they were able to pinpoint him the bastard switched off the phone.

It is sad sad sad that evil is taking over in such leaps and bounds. Is the "Rainbow Nation" still worth while persuing??????

H - I totally agree with you. I certainly dont want to raise kids in an environment like this. While SA has MANY MANY good things going for it, risking your life everyday while trying to go about daily business is not worth it...

Answer to your question Mr H - no, but it seems quite a flawed concept in any case.

Very sorry to hear of your family's experience, very nasty.

At first I was pissed off by fiasm's remarks........ but I actually admire her. She had the guts of her conviction to give up her all..... her known environment, her family and all other references to move to Oz and start a new beginning. I hope you all of the best there and great success.

The more I live and work away from RSA the more I grow distant from the country. I have great confusion in my mind if I ever want to return and retire there.

H, you are not the only one that feels like this. Crime is rampant and the government cant do anything about it. At the end of the day you need to decide whether or not it is worth living in fear of your life in exchange for the beauty our country has to offer.

Many people feel it is an acceptable risk, UNTIL something happens to them or their family.

Many people are starting to leave BEFORE something happens, and i cant say i blame them. Its sad to leave SA behind, but life is precious

I saw an old coleque at a wedding last year, he works for Checkers in Zambia the past 5 years.  He says he will never return, too happy over there.  And Raubec construction had openings there last month as well, the guys are doing fantastic and the workers thouroughly enjoy the place

Evil is NOT taking over the country.

There are great people here of all races, colour and creeds, enjoy them.!

People spend their lives fretting over something that "MIGHT" happen, they make themselves ill over issues that has never effected them, they live as if they are under siege and pretty soon they are...................but only in THEIR minds.!

In the end, its not in our hands, say your prayers, eat your vegetables and enjoy every day.

Sorry, about the incident Big H, its never pleasant, do what you need to do and move forward again,........ but never think it cant happen anywhere else,............ it can and dos.!
