had to pump up a flat the other day and used a "used  bomb" that was still connected to adaptor to see if there was anything left in it. did not inflate the tube too much but enough to cause the tube to explode once i used a new bomb. never imagined that a tyre tube could make such a noise, it blew the tyre off the rim.

Why use a bomb anyway. You all are racing for 659th position. But then again, it's "cool" to have toys (even if they are useless and costs a fortune).

I've bought 3 or 4 pumps, dutifully attached them to the bike and by the time I wanted to use them, they where faulty. So simply put I use bomb's because they are more reliable and cheaper.

Agreed. I carry both a pump and a few bombs when I ride. First choice is the pump. It costs R20 a CO2 bomb and so I only use them if it's getting dark or if I'm in a dodgy area where it might be unsafe to hang around too long pumping the MASSIVE air volume 2.4 inch tyres.

Otherwise it's a huge waste of money and resources to use bombs just for the sake of it.

If you have problems with your pumps breaking look at Crank Brothers' pumps. They have a lifetime guarantee and I've had mine for 4 years now, no hassles. It even has a little pressure dial on it.

The tube will inflate slowly if you push the bomb hard against the valve. I noticed that happening on mine. Maybe the pressure closes off the valve on the inner tube? Try and back off the pressure a bit and the tube will inflate quickly.

... those of us still finishing post ride coffee almost hit the deck when the bomb went off LOL

Only use bombs at races and to inflate tubeless wheels first time ...... otherwise pump the rest of the time!

I prefer the adapters that screw onto the bomb and also have a valve you have to turn to inflate .......

Agree with big ben...use the one with the release valve that screws on.
