Jedi Posted February 9, 2007 Share Does anyone know anything about STRAPLESS heart rate monitors. Have just seen a glove at Sportsmans made by Beurer that works with a sensor button on underside of your index finger - but not recommended for cycling because it will get in the way of the grip on handlebars. I have the Polar 625X with foot pod and bike sensor. The chest strap just does not fit me well and looses it reading on a regular basis. Not the monitor itself, because my other half uses it with absolutely no problem.Would love to get something that doesn't require chest strap. Any ideas? Le Tour Posted February 9, 2007 Share I am sure you have made sure the belt it is tight enough??Another idea is to use the same conductive gel the doctors use for a ultrasound. (Don't know where to get it as I got it from my dad who is a doctor) 3rd option try turn the strap around and use it on your back (It works, I promise) Non chest strap monitors??? don't know of any sorry. bikemonster Posted February 9, 2007 Share Jedi If I recall, you are a person for whom it would be completely appropriate to wear a bra. If I am correct in this recollection, try and find a Polar-compatible sports bra which may help.
Jedi Posted February 9, 2007 Share Reply to IvenS, I have heard of "gel" ... but not desperate enough for it to be "silicone". Very happy with what nature gave me!
Marius Posted February 9, 2007 Share ...the strap is ajustable, make it smaller? It also helps to dunk the strap into the zink before putting it on, it loves to be wet.
Spinnekop Posted February 9, 2007 Share Mine battles too. And it is only the soft strap. The hard batman strap works perfect......well.....that was before the dog got hold of it.
Jedi Posted February 9, 2007 Share Spinnekop, yes the hard strap worked great as well, used to have Polar M21, but gave it got shy to work when "hubber" tried a bit of DIY on its insides. Pity the strap won't fit the 625X.
Thug Posted February 9, 2007 Share Three recommendations to get a better HR pickup: 1st, tighten the strap. 2nd, wash the strap once every couple of weeks in the washing machine. That ensures that all sweat residue is eliminated. 3rd, Dismantle the belt from the transmitter after use. What happens is that the salt from the sweat corrodes the metal clips. amateur Posted February 9, 2007 Share Polar actually makes their own conductive gel, you can buy it at sportsman's at the polar little counter. SOrry to get all girly but it also depends on how you fit it with your underwear, you need to put it under the bra and you wont feel it even being there. PM me if you want more detials. bikemonster Posted February 9, 2007 Share Hi amateur I just want to be sure here...are you offering Jedi "more details" on you and your underwear or is that a general offer? Please clarify or I (and about a gazillion other Hubbers) will send PM's that may cause embarrassment to all concerned.
Guest Michelle Posted February 9, 2007 Share Jedi: They have the small polar strap on lifestylemd.com (local site) for R55. I've found that the polar/adidas bra is not all that reliable... but if you're interested it's just under R1000 (without the transmitter).
amateur Posted February 9, 2007 Share Was going to suggest that as a joke and thought it would just open up an entire diffirent can of worms. DOn also wanna start pissing the rest of the hubbers off, I'm really a nice person, (I hope). I think there has been enough discusions about people's 'assets" - mine included Let's just leave it up to everyone's imagination (as scary as that sounds) and I'll help the lady out!! I will offer advise, no porn included or hot lesbian incounters (sorry boys - I'm old fashioned). No funny PM's please, bikemonster you're a dirty little person! Jedi Posted February 9, 2007 Share Michelle, will have a look at the site you suggest. Thanks. I have heard about the bra with the place where you can thread the strap through, but at R1000, I just couldn't pay that. Superglue is also looking like an option though .....
