Sadly the last thing you can expect to see at the airport is WELCOMING BANNERS. I do believe colonel will be waiting for you when you arrive.

Just one other question, why do you actually want to come to Cape Town if you hate the place so much?. Should you not be wasting your well earned $$ else where

This really sucks! (the bike robberies, not the inane hijackings)

I think any bike shop with top end bikes need to be alert and sort out their insurance as well.

This is clearly an organised ring who takes what they know are expensive, and they have probably cased the places out before they stole anything.

This is bad. What do these people do with these bikes? Surely they will be easy to spot at races, etc. So to whom do they sell these bikes? I am still keeping an eye out for my dads Gios which was stolen sometime ago! I don't know what I will do if I spot the bike, but I can assure you I will go off my head.

We had a similar break in last year, bakkie reversed through our shop sliding door and loaded up a quad bike... luckily for us a customer of our driving past at 11:30pm noticed them leaving with a half loaded quad bike (the brakes were locked and they couldn't roll it) he gave chase and forced the guy to take a corner too fast and the quad fell off the back, taking one culprit with it.

Cops arrested him, we have video footage, but the culprit says he was merely catching a lift and didn't know the other guys and got off scott free.

We then welded burglar bars on the lower level of our shopfront to deter this type of break in... been ok since.

On Sunday I was training on that road than goes infront of the Landbou School when two guys try to stop me, I heard the one said , "Give me your bicycle" but they

misjudge the speed I came and I passed them, but as I went pass, I heard them shout "Next time we will just take it"

I was lucky,I guess, but those two was just to farm guys, So the question is - How do they know about taking bicycles from people, they are not going to pitch for a race in a month or two, or is it only a way of transport?

I can bet you, keep a eye on gumtree and one of these days you will see those 808's posted.

Bring me back to another issue:

As I turn right on at Klapmuts hoing towards the R304, (at about 11h30 - even the maroon sweeping vehicle wants to sweep me :-), I notice the empty Voom'as, Gu's, and wasps sachets.

Guys I'm not lying, I count 53 empty sachets starting from that 4 way stap at Klapmuts till you get to the R304 junction.

Most of it was just aff the tar , but a lot still in the road.

It is shocking to think that us, can do this and than moan and groan if the authorities is getting hard ass towards cyclist and the sportpopeye2009-02-10 01:08:51

Chris.

This is bad luck. What is strange is that it is high end bikes and TT bikes as well. That won't be uset as commuter bikes.

Maybe a syndicate taking the bikes into Africa?

Maybe you guys should look at lockup cables through the frames of these high end bikes. Best would be to get a guard armed with a shotgun, one that is willing to use it.

All the best to find this bikes.
