nothing at all. They have this nasty habit of blistering and bursting at inappropriate times. On more than one of my sets' date=' and a number of friends sets as well. Stay away. Rather use mountain kings or race kings. They are just about indestructible[/quote']

which kings are we talking about? wire bead, foldables, protection foldables....do they do a proper UST version?

I have a set of 2.25" non UST on the tandem (they normally are 2.1") and I converted them to tubeless. 1000 (oops) km's later they still seem fine. No problems. jacostrydom2009-02-27 08:11:55

I'm on my forth set of larsen tt's and still smilling, not a foot out of place yet. My friend did the training andthe epic on one set.

Been shoping and can't seem to find them...

I dont like xmarks or karmas one bit, the tread design is just all wrong for me, a tyre rolls in a certain direction so i dont see how they could use square knobs on a tyre?  The xmark is useless in the wet as well, the karma to puncture prone, just look at Burry...

For my weight and riding style they are too heavy but I must concede im sure the plain ones are cheap and the ust ones very robust, so it depends on youre riding style, terrain, distance and weight.

Ive just got some Bontrager Jones XR team tyres, 485g at 2.00 tubeless ready 60a 120tpi compound. So ill see how they work, they are real light and dont have much in the way of nobs so good for our dry conditions, sidewalls seem to be not too thin as well with good transition from straight to cornering nobs.  Time will tell...

I use UST Crossmarks in summer (dry conditions).

I am a heavy guy (just managed to go below 85kg!) smiley1.gif and hammer the down hills. The Crossmarks take the abuse I throw at them well; very robust even at low pressure (some times less than 2 bar).

Although they work well in dry conditions, they suck big time in the mud.

When it is time to top up the sealant end of summer I switch to UST Kenda Karmas for winter and go back to the Crossmarks as soon as the trails start to dry out again, although the Karmas are fine in the dry too.

The Crossmarks seem to be harder wearing than the Karmas and I think they roll easier.

Glad I got 2 sets of tyres before the recent price increases! Ouch

well I went for the crossmarks, I like the fact that they're a proper UST tyre and that they are said to roll fast......think I got them for a good price - 100 bucks a tyre less than a monorail.......

oh slight bonus, they weigh less than claimed - 681g and 685g respectively.

they (almost) never puncture or cut.

the rubber is thick and gooey and even large impediments like thick nails or large pieces of wood which normally kills other ust tyres' date=' seem to close to a small hole, which the stans/joes then seals.

never had to use a plug on them when i had them. Something i cannot say about the spez or other types of UST tyres i have had on my bike. normally have to use a plug to close the large holes.

Pffft. I had a brand new one puncture in the last 2 kms of the stellenbosch race last year. It has nothing to do with the tire, rather terrain and luck. I dont think they handle all that well. The larsen tt is more trustworthy.

Just finished sani2c on mountain kings 2.2 ust. Great all rounder, mud, hardpack, loose, sticky single track. Superb so far.

Hate them.

I have never managed to wear one out as they have all bubbled. To begin with I thought it was a one off and bought a replacement, surprise that one did it aswell.

Have been using Specialized Captain Controls for a couple of months and am very pleased with them.
