Welcome to the club, how does she ride ??

Lovely  Rode 42km Saturday morning, the last 10km my legs started to feel like jelly and I realized how many times I had to stand up on the pedals for the little hills so not to loose momentum to reach the top. EISH

Finally finished (almost)

Going to get new wheels, grips and pedals, and some gold-tone bits and pieces like bar end caps and seat clamp.

I have purchased the following parts:

Gusset Bachelor chain tensioner

Gusset ER-1 cog and spacer kit

Avid FR-5 brake levers

Gold short chainring bolts

Blackspire 38T chainring

SRAM powerchain single speed chain

What did everything cost you and where did you buy the parts from?

I bought the parts plus 2 schwalbe tyres and a cassette removal tool from CRC for R1800 including shipping and VAT.

Welcome to the revolution. It looks like a beauty.

I read this on a social media platform today.

"singlespeeding, it's about freedom, simplicity, pleasure, history and most of all a sense of childhood, what it's not, is that you don't brag about it, it's not about being a macho, it doesn't make you a stronger rider than others, for goodness sake, those people out there who ride singlespeeds claiming it's the new revolution and only the cool of the cool ride them, get over yourselves, it's called cycling."

My most fun as a kid was riding my bmx all over the neighborhood - I didn't even think of gears....

Seems like you grasped the phrase

Do you agree with this quote you have offered? or, are you just throwing it out there?

I choose to disagree with the quote.

My wording was perhaps insensitive to those that single speed purely to reminisce and disillusion themselves of their lost youth full ability.

Before I started single-speeding I was also a scuba diver. Of course I then discovered free-diving. Freediving is to scuba what ss is to cycling...I guess I like the simple stuff that challenges me a bit.
