ShortLegs Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Ok, so I'm as enthralled as the next hubber with all the epic riders and have a number of mates riding. What I'm having a problem understanding is in regard to the mixed category. Now I'm not doubting Nico's and Alison's fitness but why the hang in just about every tv shot of the pair is Alison hanging off the back of Nico's jersey I can understand if Nico was pushing her up all the hills but the continued hanging on must leave her arms dragging on the ground after 6 days of this In the spirit of the category as I see it, it's doesn't come down to the strongest pairing, but more to the chick with the strongest grip who can hang onto her partner the longest. Don't flame me all you MTB'ers, I'm just a dof a roadie/trackie after all asking for a little insight so I can appreciate the event some more ShortLegs2009-03-27 05:43:02

Cape Epic banned it a year pr so ago due to it being dangerous. 19.Seconding and Support19.1.Medical assistance will be supplied by the race organisation at all the official water points. 19.2.No outside seconding or assistance is permitted under any circumstances. Outside assistance includes assisting with bike maintenance, water and nutrition support and physically assisting riders.19.3.Competitors may receive internal assistance from their team partner or from a fellow competitor. 19.4.No towing between riders is allowed.

Flea Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 The "no towing" was in the earlier Epic's the pair were joined by a rope and the male pulled the femail - think it was a German pair. So no they are not pulled, but "hang-on"....
