What price would it cost a ou if he hired the Motorhome, bought the 4 pairs of Assos Shorts and all the other crap.

But why massage if you never massage' date=' why service after every ride, why buy special stuff if food, energade, bars, fruit  is enough and for free?[/quote']

Exactly. It's like those tools who shave their legs the day before the argus, and never again for the year.

I just hope everyone's BBs, suspension pivots, wheel bearings and freewheels were lubed properly after all the high-pressure washing that was going on...Shocked

Bike mechanics is not miracle workers, if you bent your frame he would not be able to straighten it out for you, if your forkor shox  is worn out send it for a service before the epic, most mechanics would not be able to sort it out in the middle of nowhere.

Price got nothing to do with the service you got from Mark. He is one of the best mechanics in the <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cape, and we can be grateful that he does not charge an arm and a leg for his service.

Mark has been working on all my bike(mtb+road) and I never had a problem

Skim for what team were you racing? Full sponsored rider?

skims gone.

Epic fun riders who need full bike mech sevices, shame on you!  MTB is a self sufficient sport, get with it.

Ps - very poor taste to name slander a person on a public forum.  I don't know Mark but you have created a potentially incorrect perception of his shop to me and I may now not be a possible future customer.

If anything Mark came out of this looking better than ever!

An attempted slander turned into props!

as an outsider on this post...I must say that i'll take my bike to Mark for a service...

One little complaint & 10's of good service!!

Unless very specific details are provided...it sounds much like all the other LBS - some bad incident & mostly satisfied customers....

One must also remember - mecanics come and go - some start with little experience - and a couple of years later, they are experienced...

use it...don't use itSmile

Strange, most ppl at the epic seem to have some extra special expectations from mechanics at the Epic. Still dont know why.

1. If your bike is in good condition starting the Epic you should have minimal problems unless it rains BAD! then this is another issue.

2. Most ppl sign up for a specific deal with bike shops, most choose the cheapest (Wash/Lube only) then want super attention when things go wrong. How can you expect the bike shop to now drop all the other full package customers to sort your problem out?? you chose ther cheap option.

3. The Pragma dudes did a good job and were mostly carefull of where the high pressue went. Thanks guys!!!!

This epic was one of the easyest on bikes that I can recall. so if you had issues with your bike, you probly didn't look after it before the Epic and/or were tired during the ride and started to force things. I know i have done this in the past. This destroys bikes!

Let's face it, it was only about two/three weeks worth of training rides wrapped into one. How many times a month did you have to take your bike to the shop before the Epic.

If you're serious enough a mountain biker to ride the Epic, you should at least be able to adjust/setup the gears, change the crank/cassette, take your bike apart, service your fork...

I can't see why anyone would need a mechanic if they are just a little bit interested in the mechanics of their bike...

How hard can it be to take a few tools with?

Cassette tool,

External BB tool,

Spoke wrench,

Cable cutter,

Allen key set,

With just this you can take almost everything apart...

Add a few extra tools and I can do a fork overhaul in 30 minutes...

But you really should overhaul your fork before the race...
