The fact is that most if not all bike manufacturers have the odd frame that stuffs out! It the post purchase service in righting the situation that is important. Especially if you are a small brand trying to enter a big market, you would expect maximum effort in fixing the situation so the end result is a positive one for the client.

Sorry to see your frame like that.

Trash Storck ---NOT CARBON!

Next time someone trashes carbon i expect those same people will never get on an jumbo jet, airplane or a helicopter(the rotor blades are carbon fiber-you morons). Clap

Fact is, every material has limitations, if someone uses pure alu tubes instead of treated alu alloy with only 2 mm thick to make a road bike frame it will end up bent and buckled in no time. You wont se a " GIANT ALU SUX" topic will you?  Storck are to blame not the person posting the Storck Sux topic. They should refund him or replace the frame.

Sorry but this is absolute rubbish!!!

Yes, i agree "every material has its limitation".but don't trash carbon, alu, storck ,giant etc. when life happens.

Hypothetical:if i am driving down the road in my honda civic and someone drives into me, should i run to honda and demand a new motor vehicle. Furthermore, if they don't give me a new car, do my best to trash their nameConfused.insane

Carbon is not to blame, but neither are the manufacturers who make carbon bikes.

That said, i am also sorry to see this type of thing because i know the price of that frame.

Just remember life happens.Live and learn from it.

btw.welcome to the hub iraqr.thanks for some interesting thoughtsThumbs%20Up. and remember everyone is entitled to their opinion

ya sorry iarqr that was a load of rubbish!

but anyway my view on this is if you buy a MTB from any manufacturer and you are riding under normal circumstances (being off-road) and a stone shoots up or you take a drop off that is too big for the type of bike that you are riding then you cant expect nothing to happen

i remember about 2 years ago at logwood a guy on a hardtail frame who had been riding for less than a week went into the northshore trail and crashed badly bending his alu frame he came back to the clubhouse and said that he would contact the importers of merida because his frame had a manufacturing default and thats what caused it to make him fall

well merida laughed at the guy because he had to explain exatly how it happened and he came up with i was just riding along...

my point is that every bike manufacturer has to take a little risk with a thier products but by the looks of this storck was hit by something while riding and definitely is not a manufacturing default or a carbon default!!!!

All i can say is INSURANCE!!!

Check out:

I also ride a carbon mtb.

I?ll be unhappy when it breaks, but will not be surprised.

Funny - would probably buy another carbon frame when happens.

For what it is worth: I also found a site rating frames by performing fatique tests - will post it later (have to find it again).

Above post shows carbon bikes that have hit kerbs etc. What do you expect? I have ridden carbon MTB for 2 years and have not had any problems. A bad crash however will trash whatever you are riding.

Looking at the photo of the Storck on the other thread the damage certainly looks like impact damage. Maybe there is a design fault but it is more likely that you were unlucky and took a bad impact from a rock. I have taken a lot of impacts in this area over the past few years but mostly on the cranks and chain ring. Have had big dings out of the cranks and teeth broken off the chain ring so if these rocks struck the frame I suppose similar damage could have occurred. In most cases didn't even know that the impact had taken place. Suppose the best advice concerning high end equipment is 'Insurance'. The higher the performance, the lighter / more fragile, the more the cost and the greater the risk of damage.
