I went with Miway. They got my car there for about 50% of previous company, GF's car at R100 cheaper and they installed a tracker unit for free (the R100 saving includes her payment to the tracking co) and bicycles at about R100 cheaper with a set excess and not % based.

I did phone them this morning and point out that I believe the increase to be BS and plain milking the consumer, and that they need to rethink it completely as I will be shopping around from Monday.

Anyone had a claim from Miway - always worry when you swop that you are jumping from the pan into the fire. There is more to Insurance than just low prices - I like to get paid if I ever put in a claim

My personal feeling here is I'm getting screwed? Anyone else?

I think the missing word there should be "Royally" LOL

Just go with a broker. I never had a good experience with one of these 'direct' places. Outsurance has always been more expensive than the other guys in my experience.

My GF had the same problem with Outsurance and her car, every year they would hike it up way too much. She would shop around and get a better deal, only to call Outsurance and they would match her new deal, on monthly rate and excess.

The only pain here is that you have to threaten to leave every year to keep it at the same rates.

We decided to leave as every year the same story they should learn something if it happens year after year....

Short term insurance is like cycling toys, you should consider new ones every year!

Maybe I should give the Hippo a try...

that is the biggest joke. You do not get quotes from competitors. It is basicly the same company with different subsiduaries. Now if zurich, santam, m&f, miway, outsurance, landmark etc were on there you would have had a comparitive quote.

I must say that Outsurance where brilliant at sorting out my claim in December. So service wise no issues at all.

I used to do annual insurance shoping. What irritates me about Outsurance, every time I'd phone them it would go something like this:

I tell them I'm paying XXX per month, with excess waiver, ie NO excess whatsoever (costs about R60 per car extra).

They tell me their minimum excess is R500, but then I'll be paying roughly XXX+150.

I tell them that's not exactly cheaper than I'm paying now.

They tell me they have extra benefits like roadside support ect.

I tell them to p!ss off.

Stopped phoning them a few years ago.

Anyone else get an email detailing a 21% increase in premiums from the 1/6/2009' date=' with a vague attempt to justify it by mentioning a 9% inflationary adjustment.

My personal feeling here is I'm getting screwed? Anyone else?

No letter for me yet, although my premiums are high I really think outsurance has a good service.

Rather phone them and explain that it is unnacceptable, speak with a senior consultant and "discuss" an opportunity for them to revisit their premiums......good luck dudeWink

Ongoing probelm's with Outsurance, 2 x calims 2 x claims stuffed up, 1 still outstanding

Miway are somewaht devious with their advertsing, you can only insure your cycle through them if you take householders or motor, nothing on their website to this effect.
