try actioncycling in the CBD. They've recently landed some Troy Lee Designs body armor. I sourced my TLD Brian Lopes Edition Shin & Knee protection from them for R550. They are supposed to land some Raceface stuff, but that's been delayed a few times. They are located on the corner of the Waterkant & Loop Street in Cape Town. PH: 021 425 6831

Another place to try is Mike Hopkins bikes. They are near the corner of Bree and Wale streets. They stock Thor body armour. It's more for MX, but rest assured it's hardcore protection.

Sorry Bos, but I closed my place down late last year.

On a more serious note' date=' get her some "soft" pads, ....[/quote']

Or try skateboard shops
Skateboarders over 10yrs old dont wear pads. You can't have skulls all over your board, shoes and t-shirt and then have knee pads on. LOL

Finding adult size protection pads is real hard. Dont shell out major money either as she'll use them twice and get over the worrying and not need them again.

the Fox shop at Canal Walk has Knee/Shin combo pads that aren't too much.

he he, have a look at those sites i send you, you'll see that it's not all big and bulky pads.

They stock some smaller more comfortable stuff too, which will be perfect for her

Thanks guys...will keep hunting....been around the northern suburbs this afternoon and dropped in at moto-bike shops....they had some sixsixone kneepads (R350....Shocked) stuff that looked the business, but would be absolute hell to cross-country with....the Toy-R-Us scateboard pro-tek-sin....is maar dun...broer...

The whole idea is to have her not think about "the inevitable clip-in crash" so much....knowing you have "some safety net" frees you up from those thoughts...

Anyways, I'm not out to buy her R800 stuff for just two/three rides....but even spending a "senseless" R200 seems too much....Ouch
