Borad Posted March 27, 2007 Share SA under 23 squad selected for Europe - Own Correspondent<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><< Back<?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Tuesday, March 27, 2007A South African under 23 squad has been selected to ride in five of the most prestigious events in Europe, collectively known as the World Cup des Nations.Riders? performances in these events will determine the number of riders their respective countries qualify for the World Championships but, more importantly, it affords the youngsters an opportunity like never before to get noticed in Europe and go onto greater things as part of established European professional outfits.The team consists of Hanco Kachelhoffer, Johan Rabie, Pieter Seyffert, Christoff van Heerden, Jay Thomson and Shaun Davel. The two reserves are Juan van Heerden and Nolan Hoffmann.They will race in the Tour de La Cote Picardi (18/4), Liege-Bastagna-Liege (21/4), the Giro Della Regioni (26/4 - 1/5), the Thuringen Rundfaht (12/6-17/6), the GP Tell (22/8-26/8) and the Tour de L?Avenir (6/9-15/9).The team will be based in Belgiumon> under the leadership of John Robertson and his Konica Minolta back-up team.
