Sammajoor Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Sorry' date=' I got this badge today & needed to pass it on. PS: I was issued with two today, other one is a tad ......... for the hub [/quote'] POST Mail it in any case
SwissVan Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Seeing that Close the For Sale forum completely, raises my blood pressure it does...
Kranswurm Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 all very good' date=' but wat happens to the guys who aren't regular hubbers or decide to create an account to sell that extra bike or what ever, the hub will loose alot of good deals.....in the end we will be loosing. I think contact numbers area better way to go... thats my opinion.[/quote']Then get a hubber to post for them The number of posts is no measure of your intent, honesty or integrityGet real.....if you are going to implement some form of selection measure, improve on the selection criteria.Past history, nature of posts, etc would be better. As far as I am concerned you are all pissing in the wind here. The more I think about it this is a waste of time.So I must wait for 200 posts before I can sell my Colnago C50 crap!Go somewhere else
Matchstix Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 then it should go both ways for a buyer as well. esmeyer barely had two posts. He had a good deal to offer and was scammed badly.
Slave Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 For what it'sworth, you could end up with a lot of crud being posted just to get post counts up. You will always have chancers who will lurk around places like this to find someone to rip-off. Don't think it will help. Really, it is very simple to rip someone off over an internet transaction. The risk is big. Standard rule of thumb should be: Do you trust the other party enough? Newby? Beware. Established hubber? Does he /she have a reputation? Can they be trusted? YEs? Go for it. No? Stay away. You all know the risks and this is a high risk transaction. Protect yourself. Poluting the hub with stoopid posts wont negate the risk. Do the business sensibly and understand the risks. Simple. We aren't all crooks, but you don't know who is until you get ripped. Use a condom (I mean protection.)
Matchstix Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 How a bout a thread with a list of relaible hubbers from hubber that people have bought from.
parabola Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I reckon all that a rule like this will do is cause more people to post even more worthless drivel, more often, in order to up their post count. I couldn't care less what someone's post count is, just because someone talks alot, doesnt make what they say more legit, valuable or reliable. What we need is a buyer feedback system like ebay/bidorbuy etc, where sellers and buyers can give feedback on sales and scammers can be wrung out of the system. New sellers would need to improve their reputation before sales can be done with confidence. After reading Slaves post, I couldve just said - what he said.
Slave Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Cool idea. Maybe we should have admin give a reliable rating factor. On another forum I am a member of, "rank" is gained by the number of votes you get based on the quality of your posts. Poeple vote for you if you have something valuable to contribute to the hub. So instead o fbeing an ultimate hubber because you posted 10000 useless posts, you could be ranked according to a voting criteria and one of those could be trustworthyness involving deals you have concluded on the hub. That way we can see who we have to exercise caution with and who is relaible. There are still risks though. You will never negate them all. Only reduce them. BEware though of the hubber who does a lot of small deals and then suddenly has something huge on offer. It could be a scam. End of the day, protect yourself. It is your repsonsibility.
paulvs Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Let me make it clear! Not even this will help. I've just been rippedoff by a very so called reputable seller who has been shamed before. I've asked him a simple question as to how he is going to remedy the situation. I have one suggestion. There should be a list of reputable sellers and buyers. This sucks big time.
Speedi Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 10000 posts! No, 20,000, that way we can only trust Holy
Matchstix Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 How about on the stars of hubber give him a sales rating
paulvs Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 How about on the stars of hubber give him a sales rating that sounds pretty good. but there will have to be some sort of control as to how and why a star get's allocated.
scotty Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Go with your gut feel and dont take chances, meet in a public place exchange cash and keep a baseball bat handy in case things go pear shaped.
