Although there is quite a lot of thinking involved on how you prepare yourself for that rush, like how you're gonna position yourself on the bike, how much pressure to put on the brake levers, and if you're air born, how will you land? hmmmmShocked

Okay Spinnekop, don't piss too many ladies off now - I quite like riding behind them on the course.  We should get more ladies into MTBing - the more the merrier!!  Big%20smile

Yes exactly, we all train just as hard as the men, we won't be as fast as the males due to the fact that males are techically faster than us(that testosterone thingy) and you can't make a female race against a male because it is virtually impossible and totally unfair becuase the male will always win with the same amount of training, so the fact still remains that women should get equal prize money... You can't expect to get more entrants just over 1 race either... It will take some time over a couple of races...

The counter argument to that would be - juniors/vets/tandem riders/disabled athletes also train as hard but can't win against elite males because they're too young/old/heavydisabled so EVERYONE should get equal prize money...

I'll never agree to that because then we'll end up in a nanny state where nobody wins because everybody is winning.

Best of the best get the most prize money and the rest share the remainder equally is my view. How much of "most of the prize money" I'm debatable on LOL

Defending the girls. A few years back, they threatened to half the girls prize money at races like the tour d'urban, if they did not ave at least 35 for the race, in the end they just managed it. This year they finished with an ave around 37, showing how much the ladies racing improved. BUT, I do think that the amount of ladies taking part has dropped since then aswell. Another example was the SAs at PE, where the womens ave was only around 32, resulting in a mass bunch sprint with the entire starting field almost still intact, and look at this years SAs! Yes they have stepped up their game, so they deserve to be rewarded aswell.

I should actually say that MTB is actually for the real riders, it might not be as fast but it is way more exciting than road and you get a better scenery...Big%20smile

Eldron, I think we've already come to that conclusion, so now the debate is how much????

Well then i guess you would have no brains because you would be the first to climb off your bike and walk the drop off and wash yourself at every water point if you lucky enough to get there on time, lolLOL and maybe thats the reason you don't ride MTB!!!

It's quite entertaining talking to the men on the courses heheLOL

mmmmmm.....ok, my 2cents...<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

no to equal prize money....ok, so when I was younger I was the first to complain about this..'girls put in equal effort...bla bla bla..' Now, being older and wiser it makes sense. Duh, off course if the girl comes in under the top ten...she deserves it, but giving equal prize money to the boys (with say 200 in their field) and to the girls (with what, say 6 in their field) doesn?t seem right.

oh, and it's very sad to say that equal prize money will increase the girls participation. If you are riding for money...dunno, then you have missed the plot in my eyes.

I agree, there should be equality in the sport, all treated the same, but one must take all factors in consideration.  You cannot give full prize money to first place if she is the only rider, make a table and say 100% prize money for 10 entries, 90% for 9 entries and so on, this should count for both male and female.  I am also 100% against prize money for youth riders, they should be receiving trophies or medals  (prize money in youth cycling makes the parents nastyOuch!!!)
