Mackie Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I screwed the first poll up, this is the correct one.All the wheels are in the same ball park from a cost point of view, all of them look great, AMC leads by a nose here, weight is more or less the same, so which ones do you okes reckon? Please help need to make my mind up. CROSSTRAIL'S AMERICAN CLASSICS FULCRUM RED METAL 3 mackiemoo2009-07-16 02:08:51
Sammajoor Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Fulcrum........... Back up.. although in SA they are mega expensive
Andyr249 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Are you limitted to one of those three?I would recommend Eastons. I just upgrade my wheelset to Easton EA90 Aero. I was told by a few people that Eastons were an excellent choice.
Bos Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 What do you weigh? what do they go onto? and what do the fulcrums weigh? I would just go for the lightest. However AC has had issues with bearings, so If you are heavy you might need to re think the hubs. The crostrails are strong (probably the strongest here but also 1.8kg's I think, which is going nowere as far as upgrade goes.
Mackie Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 I weigh 105kgs, Fulcrums weigh 1805 for the set. Going on my GT Zaskar ExpertWhat do you weigh? what do they go onto? and what do the fulcrums weigh? I would just go for the lightest. AndreZA Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Why buy boutique wheels. Have a set build up and I'm sure it will be lighter and ten to one cheaper. YOu can even have Hopes build by CRC and shipped for cheaper.
rad006 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 MackieMooDont waste your money on the Fulcrum 3`s rather buy 2 sets of Fulcrum 5`s trust me on this one
_im_from_earth Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Machiemoo: At 105kg and in that price-point you would be far better off having a wheelset built for you by a good local wheel-builder. You would be spending the same cash and get a wheelset that would be far more versatile and durable. fork maintenence courses.... ARGH! sorry! I have been in Austria for a bit and running around like crazy! I will work on dates this week if you are still keen? It won't be long before I am off again.
splat Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 How would a pair of ZTR Arch rims on Hope or XT hubs compare price wise from CRC? (I say Arch rims over Olympic 'cos I also weigh 100kg and have my eye on a pair)
_im_from_earth Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 splat the Arch rims are super for heavier/ more agressive riders. the reason for my above post is that I am riding the Flow rims over the 355 [couldn't get the arch] and although I'm not too heavy its been the best choice I have made, I have not flinched once riding my wheels over some pretty gnarly trails. I'm all for light wheels, but there is NOTHING that can replace a good 32H hand build rim/ hub option!
