no calves Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Bear in mind I am 18, Race hard, and my dad has the same Anthem Advanced so I know how it rides.
rad006 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Anthem you lucky boy...my choice if I didnt have an SC Superlight...
Racer X Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Keep the XTC, lighter, less to go wrong and you're 18. You're joints should still be able to put up with extra punsihment of no rear shock.
mrmed Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Ridden both. Short races XTC, longer and multistage races Anthem.
Scoe Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 XTC, you're 18! We young people don't need the rear sus
no calves Posted July 19, 2009 Author Posted July 19, 2009 I do Ultra marathons and stage racing. TO big for XC. Does that help?
Racer X Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Well I'd stay with the HT. Then again some one else will say go the ST. Its your choice, asking a question like this is like asking your mother to go clothes shopping for you, its all about personal choice.
Weight Weenie Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 If your fit etc. you'll be able to handle the HT on multi-day races. I think the dually will only slow you down...
PhilipV Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I ride an XTC, and given the choice I would swap it for the anthem. The anthem will be more fun and bit comfier. I'd go for the anthem, as you can bomb it a bit harder.
JasonW Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 It really depends what type of racing you intend doing. If you want to mainly do marathon or multi stage then go for the anthem. If you mainly want to do XC races of shorter events then get the XTC.
Pappa Bear Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 FULL SUSS!!!!! It has been "documented" in some mags that full suss is acctualy faster.....
blockhouse Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Personally I think it's a no brainer. The xtc is a good hardtail, nothing more nothing less. The anthem is a legend that gives you the best of both worlds.I suggest you ride the same course with both, I put money on it that unless you a whippet (60 to 70 kg's), that you'll be quicker on the anthem
