called the police 10 mins before my post... they are still not here.

Don't worry, I will delete this thread once it's over, there will be no record of the stoning... maybe the odd stone on the pavement outside the shop...

Remember to take a picture, copy his ID and put it up in your shop. Make him sign a letter stating that he will not come into your shop again and tell him if you find him there again you will call the cops.

Such a small world... I was in the shop when this happened and now it appears on the hub (and it isn't even a bicycle shop). Was a teenager, but there was another older guy hanging around outside the shop who I'd guess was waiting for him, didn't seem terribly interested in the stuff in the shop...

Was quite funny to watch everyone working there trying to decide if they should call the police or not...

New twist to an already lame but intruiging story. What other places sell gloves? Outdoor Whouse. Maybe he wanted to keep warm. I don't encourage steeling but it all leads back to the lack of effort put in by the government to sustain the youth of today who don't have anything else. Just blame them and know that nothing will be done and this thread can be over with

It's funny but also not, it's a motorbike shop. Our gloves range from R300-R400 to well over R2000. So it may seem trivial, but leather gloves are easily over R1000 and can disappear quickly under a shirt, as this guy did.

Our hesitance to call the police is two fold. For one they took over 45 minutes to get here, so we stand staring at the guy for that time. Last time we had to zip tie the oke to a chair for an hour because he was a runner...

We have a lot of people trying to rob us. We have caught 3 people on video camera taking cell phones from staff, handbags, even quadbikes! We caught someone who stole a bike during a "test ride" and a guy   who stole electronic gear worth R12000. We handed every person over to the police and NOT A SINGLE one of them ever got prosecuted. We have to give statements, then go sit in court the whole day ( On a bench sitting next the the little M@ucker) only to get nowhere.

So you see the dilemma presenting itself when we catch yet another one, who is recognised by our staff as having been here quite frequently...

Justice indeed.

There was a strange twist, the female Officer recognised the dude and knew his mother, who works up the road. He is currently at UCT.

What they hell?
