Check the frame against this example of 85 SLĀ http://www.speedbicycles.ch/velo/344/bianchi_specialissima_sl_1985.html

Thanks for this webpage Loose Cog!! The frame is identical to mine, so until someone throws a spanner into the works, it's a mid 80's Specialissima SL. Had a look at some later model Specialissimas sold on Steel-Vintage and it seems that the later models moved away from the capped seat stays.

Any idea of what this Alpina is worth, would like to sell.

What does it say on the tubing sticker? Are all the components 105? Could be anything from 500 to 2000 IMHO - all depends on tubing, components and condition.

So, this is probably a bit off topic.

Ā

What shoes does one wear with old toe clip pedals?

Ā

I'm trying to get ready for Eroica.

The shoes are easy, it's finding the cleats, depending on what pedals you have!!!

Ā

My suggestion, just wear running shoes.

Trust they will allow clipless pedals.

My understanding is that you must use toe clips. I've got a pair on the way. Should be interesting learning to use them...
