thats insane...dont get caught up in the whole "look" of cycling. its a rubbish element where every tom, dick and harry is competing to look the best. its why manufacturers can also drive thier prices sky high, cyclists are willing to be ripped off for the "perfect look".

a bag is so helpful, especially if you out on your own and dont have a camel back (or dont want to wear one), for essential stuff, like a an extra shirt so you dont smell when you hit the coffee shop after the ride Wink

just ride, enjoy it and have fun!

Guys

Is it embarrassing to ride with a saddle bag? Cause I don't see many guys riding with it.

It's emabarrassing to break down and not have a saddle bag with spares.

Saddle bags are only emabarrassing if they start getting to large and rattle.

I use my hydration pack. Useful, since I don't have a backup vehicle with food and spares, and I don't like my pockets dragging on the ground behind me. I get funny looks sometimes, but it's usually from people I've just passed smiley16.gif

On my road bike I've got a saddle bag and I use a hydration pack on my MTB which even has a bell on it.

Do a road test. Go for a ride without a saddle bag and when you get a puncture then decide if a) It is embarrassing to have one or b) is embarrassing not to have one

I don't go anywhere without my saddlebag. besides, it frees up my pockets for my gels, food, keys etc

Had a saddlebag and rattled so much I wanted to chuck it off the mountain.  Now carry all my goodies in a small sunglass bag in my shirt's back pockets, works for me.  What works for you?

This is one of those reasons I love my camelbak. Can fit heaps of spare stuff in there. Dont compromise function to look good.
