I definitely believe you did the right thing... you didn't injure him by the sound of it so he shouldn't have a grudge against you... most of these guys don't take getting caught personally, it's all in a days work. He knows he will be out of jail tomorrow morning so shouldn't be too worried. At least you know that you have tried, even if the justice system doesn't support you, you can't just leave these guys too get away with it without at least some inconvenience.

Kill him...shoot them....etc etc no wonder we have a violent society. I do not condone thievery, but if we promote this type of violence and we are the small percentage of educated people in this country - then what future do we really have. Follow the proper procedures, and if that does not work then rather expend your energies in getting that right.

What is the proper procedure ? Let me tell you the proper procedure is a @#$ing joke and so is the justice system . You want to work on getting it right ? Thats going to be a bit difficult since a lot of criminals has also moved into goverment from where they can control it all . If the bastard put his first foot over the fence shoot to kill , if he is not alone wait for his mates to also enter the property .

Good on you my friend. You did the right thingThumbs%20Up.  But I understand your fear of the guy returning. So keep the paintballs in the fridge, just in case.

I don't promote violence, but I grew up in a mining town where violence, even during petty crime, was almost a given. If you were caught walking alone at night, you lose your jewels for a tobacco bag or at best receive a beating. I remember walking home in groups with spiked knuckle dusters just to make sure you actually get there.

Also worked for a trauma counselling organisation for a year, and after the second or third visit to the hospital in 4 - 6 weeks chatting to people who were visited at night by affirmative shoppers with faces full of stitches from knife wounds - I am not sure I won't shoot before asking questions!

Surely my role is to protect my wife and family?

Apparently the law says that you can only defend yourself with a similar weapon or less-lethal weapon than your attacker, so if he comes with a knife, you are 'allowed' to use your hands or a knife, not a gun etc etc.

Kinna warped I think?

Good one you for doing something...

Luckily the model didn't test out the shoes and put some fast km's on them when you approached.

Hey dont get me wrong - i am not disputing the fact that corruption is amongst us, and if you or your family is in direct danger you will do what is required to protect them - what I do disagree with is "taking him far enough off the street and killing him" over what? some glasses and watches. Dont want to go into a debate about our judicial/police system - just saying i dont agree with those comments.

Yah, I agree.

What will you gain.? Nothing, and you will likely end up staring a jail term or at the least a criminal record in the face.

Theres a world of differance in defending yourself, your family and your property, and advocating senseless violence in any form.

The "shoot to kill" rant by the politicians and police top brass has come back to bite them, weekend saw them kill a women and injure a man. Appears the Flying squad mistook the vehicle the woman and passengers were driving, for a hijacked one and let rip as the tazz was slowing down.  Of course the policians and top brass refuse to comment now. On discovering their error the flying squad guys that shot at them raced away. The hijacked car was later found 500m away.

So the police ran away....................!!

Grief, I never saw that in the papers, do they know who the officers were.?

In my opinion, the majority of the police officers on the ground are undertrained and undermotivated and this kind of irresponsible rant by the politicians (which in my opinion is just "vote gathering") is bound to have  severe consequence's as you mention.

it was in the star's report in the afternoon issues that are rolling off the presses. the driver of the car, an air force captain, has vowed to put his career on the line to make sure these okes are dealt with.

The run away claim was what the captain involved mentioned on the radio this morning, and that it was the police backup vehicle that followed that stopped to assist them.

First post so hi to every one, I have been lurking and learning for awhile I need to give some input here, my dad was a cop yes he is retired now. Do you guys know how it feels to know your dad might be shot while performing his duty to uphold the law. Ok back to what I wanted to discuss.

I have to ask myself the question why didn't he stop when he saw the flashing blue lights or at least slow down enough to communicate with them and tell them he will drive to the Police station.....

Also why is everyone up in arms about Art 49, have you taken a look at the amount of police officers killed in the line of duty visit the Police memorial and go and check how many have died in the line of duty there.... I feel it is right to bring back the law that gives them the right to shoot if their lives are in danger.

I don't condone the loss of a innocent live not at all and if the guys in blue was wrong and it does seem they acted over hastily then prosecute them for the same crime you would a criminal...

But have the laws in place for a lawful shooting so that the Police Officer don't have to doubt should he shoot or not and if he did indeed pull the trigger will he be prosecuted for murder if it was within the law and his right to shoot.
