I need some expert advice as I am a novice. I want to buy my first bike and all the research I have done over a couple of months has added to my confusion. I love the look of the cruisers, but standard ones are unaffordable, well for me anyway I have R25 000 and all the 300cc 400cc are grey or parallel imports which I have only read negative things about. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I also like the dual purpose bikes like the KLR 650, KLE500. I just don?t know what and where to get the right bike for the right price that I can commute with and have fun with (off the road) a bike that is durable dependable and fun. The dealers I phone all suggest a Honda CBX250 though I love all things Honda this particular bike does nothing for me. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm in PTA

sorry lady, this is forum is for bikes that are powered by humans, not motors. But I'm sure some people will be able to answer you. Best bet though is to have a look at the "thinkbike" forum.

My input, albeit non expert advise, would be to ask the same question on a motorcycling forum. Everybody on here rides the 2-stroke vleis-piston type of bikes.

Good luck.

All 400cc bikes in theis country are grey... we have been selling and servicing them for over 10 years now, the key is to find a bike that is common in the market place, not a one of cheapie import. Then make sure your dealer can back the product up.

CB400SF, and Bandit 400's are a decent start, otherwise the racing type CBR400's VFR400, GSXR400 and RVF400 are all fine ad spares are available they are getting old now and you may need to wait for spares from Japan.

the KLE500 is a good bike i have a 2007 for 39K so it's out of your bracket. but i have a ER500 that has the same motor for R33K.

Cruisers are heavier on gas and harder to handle at low speeds but it's the style that counts

It's a lot more money but the Ninja 250 should take the entire 400cc market in my view.

Decades newer tech, same speeds, more economical, genuine, brand new!
