Its funny reading these posts. I actually know the guy who was in the bmw. Its a complete different story that he tells and knowing him very well' date= i can gaurentee he is far from aggressive , in fact he is a against any sort of violence.

[/quote]

Correct the drivers story must also be heard, i'm certain the lady knocked down is also not an aggressive person. Perhaps the bakkie driver who saw what happened and took the keys away could also comment as he must have had strong motivation for it.

So whats the guys name, seen that he gave the rider a false name and contact info.

And the plot thickens?

No its actually quiet simple. Cyclists in groups of more than 5 or like taxi drivers. Mob mentality takes over. Somebody posted "They should not have surrounded his vehicle . They should have kicked every panel on his car and then give him a box klap before sitting on the pavemunt waiting for better days "

So irrespective of whose fault it is, this what you can expect.

I asked my friend and his response was after what happended to Ken who in their right mind would give details to these guys. He has no problem defending himself through normal channels. He also has an eye witness.

Remember Ken got death threats, they hacked into his website, exposed his ex wifes personal details, sent him email virus,  This is the mentality you are dealing with.

Just out of interest , he was not forced to stop, he stopped out of his own freewill. One of the cyclists took his keys , not some bakkie driver.

He did not hit the cyclist on the side of the road, he was riding in the middle of the road. So if cyclists are riding single file, as the law states, I wonder if this accident would of happened.

There is meeting at Teak place on the 11th November where residents are going to put their issues on the table and lets see how CGC and the authorities respond. Read the CGC website.

Its amazing how everything gets twisted in these forums and some of the stupid comments. Im not going to waste my time here anymore.

Cradle resident...you still haven't said how he hit her or if it could have been avoided?! I hate to point this out, but most people here are both drivers and cyclists so do have both points of view (unlike you)... and when you knock someone over, I wouldn't be surprised if giving false information is also illegal unless you go straight to a police station and report it yourself...

From what I've read, the guy in the BMW is a monkey and caused someone unnecessary harm, (whether she was a perfect little cyclist sitting well out of his way or not)... that to me is illegal and could amount to attempted murder if he did drive like an idiot (there should be enough witnesses to confirm/deny this) and he should be thankful that all he got was a few swear words.

If he has no problem defending himself through normal channels, he should have refused to give them his information and ensured they all went to a police station to make statements rather... Seems more reasonable than lying to the person he just knocked over.

Oh, and as far as the mob mentality goes... you make it sound like the cyclists ride around your neighbourhood spray painting walls and smashing you windows... It might just be me, but if someone unnecessarily endangers my or anyone else's life, I am going to get upset with them... and in the heat of the moment, who knows how a person will react to that anger, it takes a strong person to deal with it in a civilized manner.

Cradle resident, perhaps it is best you go, you were not there, you are providing heresay which you cannot substantiate except for providing more excuses as to the Driver not giving his real details if he failed to do so. If he did give false info, it speaks volumes of his character. I did note his number plate though so I'm sure it can be traced.

Perhaps we should have phoned the police immediately as it happened, then all would be cut and dried.

The driver was in the road, no where is it stated that he was on the side of the road. the cyclists were on the left side of him.

In the space of 10 metres (give or take) he managed to accellerate, from standstill, so much and create enough force to break his left side view mirror on the cyclist that he knocked down. The driver was alone, and inspected his broken rear view mirror when he got out of the car.

Thank goodness he did stop or he would have been reported promptly as a hit and run.

he wasnt going anywhere as at least 8 cyclists blocked his car AFTER he had nocked the cyclist down. The white bakkie driver that stopped, handed him his keys.

eyewitness, good for him, he may need it.

you seem to forget that cyclists are also just people out there enjoying their hobby, not all dark crazed cyber hackers. There are good and bad out there, so it takes consideration of all road users to stop these things happening.

Hope the lady is better but why oh why did the cyclists atangonise the dweep by surrounding his car with menacing bicycles?????? Was THAT really neccesary?????????

Why not' date=' the driver displayed an aggressive attitude and most likely would have made a run for it. Nowhere is it mentioned they used any physical force. [/quote']

I cannot really blame you for not unnerstanding iengliesh...... it is an incomprehensable and difficult language.....

A+ to Big H, I should have written 'NEXT TO ON THE LEFT SIDE' or 'NEAR TO' or 'ALONGSIDE (still ambiguous), or 'BESIDE ON THE LEFT' or 'ADJACENT TO ON THE LEFT' or perhaps 'IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF'bottom line someone got hurt unnecessarily...

Big H, I thought I cleared that up for you on page 2 when you requested a more conscise report... semantics aside the point was annoyence at having bicycles anywhere near the vehicle.

In future I will endeavour to carry my 5m measuring tape and give you specifics. AND also wait 5 days, not 3 hours, or so till my nerves have calmed down after having a person near me knocked down, before I report anything for your consumption.

I was also in that group. The bottom line is, the rider who was knocked over was holding her line. She was inside the yellow line. When the BMW driver pulled off, you could hear from his engine that he was really trying to accelerate and make a point that his car was faster than all of us on bikes.

I honestly believe that if it weren't for the cyclists (well done to our marshals on the ride) stopping him, he would have driven off. I then received an email from the club stating that he gave the cyclist he knocked over a false name and telephone number. INEXCUSABLE!!! It wasn't like we insisted that he yell it out for all of us to take down so that we could later harass him. The cyclist he knocked down was given the details directly by him.

Cradle Resident - stop making excuses for some dumb coward who was hoping to get off scott free after knocking a cyclist over. smiley7.gif smiley7.gif

Are you implying that its OK that cyclists not in single file get knocked over by cars?

I dont think that cyclists should be in the middle of the road, but I am fairly sure that there is something in the law books that state that you are supposed to be careful and not drive into other road users in a fit of wheel spinning rage (allegedly).

You are contributing to twisted stories and stupid comments yourself, so please dont waste our time here any more with one sided half stories.

I am sorry but your comments here does not make sense..

1. How does your friend know what happened to Ken?

2. Can you proof that his website was hacked?

3. Can you proof what threats Ken got?

4. What about Ken's wife details were "exposed"....it is on a public website?

5. How do you know that, or can proof that someone send Ken and email virus? Unless you are Ken and did a virus....but then you still can not proof that someone on this forum send it....

And did you know that they law also states that it is illegal to wheel spin?

I think that you are doing some serious thumb sucking.....

Oh and another thing, if you are driving your car and you knock over a pedestrian, make that a drunk pedestrian anywhere on the, ie not at a pedestrian crossing you the driver are WRONG according to the law...

So the little argument of "if the cyclist were riding single file....." is bull dust....as you can say if the pedestrian was walking NEXT to the road etc.....what is the next thing you are going to say? That if kids are getting out of a bus and run in front of your car that "they should have looked first, as that is what the law states"???

come on people apply logic.
