Stopped around 18 months ago...

The thought of cigarettes disgust me. I can feel it in my lungs if I have been at a bar the night before a ride. Cant imagine what it would be like if I actually smoked.

Best thing I ever did was stop.

I work in the Rock n Roll industry, so smokes and booze are common place. Smoked plenty for years and loved it. My wife got pregnant and I stopped nigh on 3 years ago. Just like that. Not a puff since.

Then I realized what I had been missing most - my sense of smell

and you should see my climb a hill now!

23 September i was smoke free for 6 years. Got up on 23 September 2003 while riding to Durban from Pretoria with our bikes to do the Amashova in aid for children with HIV AIDS.

I just decided i had enouogh and that was it for me. It was hell for the first three months but it is a mind over matter situation, so just hang in there.

The first step is to make the desision that you want to stop and then the rest is easy.

It helps just reading this thread! I also used Zyban and it works, but at the end of the day.....Mind over matters!

Good luck to everyone, lets kick the habit all the way!
