That's bloody expensive. You can pick up tubes from R20-R30 from Makro or Sportsmans here in PE.

WTF? Seriously? Oh' date=' wait, they're the same price at Makro and Sportman's here in JHB as wellWink

I find the sportsman's warehouse brand of tubes (MTB) to be far less reliable than the Giant ones that you can buy for an few bucks extra.

Any one else find this.

i used to support cajees and avoided cycle lab.

now i only suport cycle lab.

here's why - cajees used to be cheap, and cycle lab expensive, but things have turned around.

cajees have this attitude of "support us or p!ss off"

the client service at cycle lab is WAYYYYYYYY better and more friendly!!!kamikaze2009-11-16 07:07:35

I went to Cajees in 4-ways about 5 years back to get a bolt for a child seat for the bike. They didn't have so the guy went into the back to look through all the old stuff. Found an old used bolt in a box of nuts and bolts.

The owner then told him to charge me R80 for the bolt. When I complained and said u gotta be kidding, I was basically chased out the shop and told to f-off.  I vowed to never shop at Cajees again, which I haven't, and to tell anyone I can about how *** they are, and I'm still doing that.

i went in there the other day looking for a used tyre to put on a mountainbike i was giving away. the cheapest tyre they had was R240.

i explained to them that i didnt want to spend that much, and that i was willing to pay R50 for a used tyre.

(surely they had an old tyre lying around in the back)

they told me to buy a new tyre or p!ss off.

i then out of principle went bought a new tyre from sportsmans warehouse.

cajees replaced the axle on my rear wheel. two weeks/150km later the cones were loose again(no i didnt fall or jump off a wall etc).

i went back and tuned them. they kept the wheel for 3 days, and said come fetch it on saturday. i went there on the saturday and they had forgotten about the wheel. i waited for about an hour and a half for them to fix it.

all the while they insisted that it was not their fault.

i insisted that it WAS.

they then even tried to get me to replace the hub due to the damage that was apparently caused from riding with loose cones. i threw my toys.

then suddenly their tune changed and there was no damage to the hub anymore.

they fixed it...albeit grudgingly.

the kid next door booked his mtb in for it's free 1st service (and new brake pads) with cajees. upon arrival they told him it would be R750.

i told him to go to cycle lab - the guys at cycle lab quoted him R500 and offered to give him a ride home as well. smiley32.gif kamikaze2009-11-16 08:51:03

I just recieved a quote from Cajees for a hanger for my Scott Genius 2009 - R 595.00! When I asked why so expensive they said it's discontinued - they sold me the bike 3 months ago...

That's just MAD!

You have a lot of guts to come on the hub and openly support Cyclelab. :)

I agree with you fully, but eish you gonna get a lot of flack from the clever bunch out there........

best you go into hiding for a few days

I bought Aerozine grips from the Princess shop a few years back and they charged me R180. I did not the going price and I payed it. I stopped buy another shop and saw them for R120 and I know that shop will even give more discount. When I bought my Raleigh frame from them in the beginning of the year (nobody could have beaten them on their price) I saw that they sold Rock 'n Roll red lube for R180 a bottle. I told them that other shops sell it for R100 and they said it can not be, they get it for more then R100 from the distributor.

Back on the CL issue. I'm probably the biggest anti-CL person out there, but the other day with race number collection I poked through their small part and alot of it was cheaper then my LBS even after their discount. but on most of the other stuff they just rip the arse right out of the duck.

CL get a lot of flack, perhaps some justification in light of the price fixing issue. But they are not the most expensive on on all items as if often claimed though, pricing the Giro helmets at them then price the same one elsewhere including Sportsmans warehouse CL is cheaper. A 48mm tube, Cajees box price R75, Sportmans Warehouse R49.95 CL R33.

Some items will be more expensive but others not.

I can't speak for all the Cajees branches, but I am very happy with Cajees Boksburg. Both Ahmed and Areef are keen to help and I get good prices from them, almost as good as online prices and believe me I do my research when it comes to bike parts and their prices. The marked price is not the price you will pay, ask for a better price and you might be surprised! Bike servicing... I do my own and if I can't repair it myself, I bite the bullet and use another LBS.
