Malcolm didnt pace once for 5 complete laps. Not even for 10m.

You still think he deserves it?LOLLOLLOL

Well to be the only one to hang on to George's wheel after George rode the rest of the field apart I think so... Like I said I don't know the story but from what I can make out it looks like George hurt quite a few guys but just couldn't shrug Lange. So yes' date=' he does I think... Come on, this is Lange's last year of racing and to end off a brilliant career as SA's road champ, 370 (More to come) wins... Smile GO LANGE!!!!!!

Cmon Jason - where'e the honour in being the last to survive if you have done nothing all day - he only survived cos all his team mates did the work (along with DG)

DG took the racing to them and rode all of Langes team into the ground, at least he can hold his head high....

[/quote'] Take nothing away from George, it was him vs. the rest and ended up with Lange. I can't see how you can say Lange did nothing all day, if Geroge dropped the rest except Lange surely Lange must have worked his A$$ off to stick with George.

I agree, Malcolm had a team, his domestiques (Dunno who MTN/MS were riding for today) but that's cycling for you and if you want to be a part of a team then you have to sacrifice your legs for the BOSS which I'm guessing was Lange on the day.

Big difference between following the wheel and making the racing in terms of effort and power output..

Just chat to 101%, Marco or Bruce about guys sucking wheel and then winning...

When it happens to you we can talk...Wink

[/quote']I knew you were gonna hit me below the belt and bring power in to it Tongue, but I still think Lange had to work his a$$ off to hang on to George's wheel, but yeah if you want to decide the winner of a race by how much power they push then Ullrich should have won more tour's than Lance... right? Considering he had to haul that HUGE diesel a$$ around France... Tongue.

Course he had to work - thats not the point I am making. When somebody weaker than you hangs on by doing nothing and missing turns continually then jumps past at the finish then that lacks a certain integrity. LIke I said - wait until you are on the receiving end Big%20smile

Here's my 20 cents

Malcolm has his team that worked for him. His a sprinter, so its his job to sit and win the race at the sprint!! Thats how a lot of sprinters win races in pro racing

David doesn't have a team, he had to do everything on his own. Maybe he should get acouple of guys to support him a bit more in a race. Yes he did rode away from all except malcolm. But if he was that good, then he would have left malcolm as well if he was so desperate to win. Malcolm is not a real climber allthough he is not so bad at it and David couldn't get him of his wheel

I just think they could have made it into a more spectacular finish for the crowd.

George had a lot more to lose with the rest of the MTN/MS team sitting just a few minutes behind... So either he paces or get's caught and gets a good 26th position... Settle for 2nd? Yeah good deal.

Hope you still have lotsa years in you TongueLOL, might take me a while to get to the level of 101%, bruce, Marco etc.

The big wheel turns and all professional (and most amateur) cyclists understand and accept this. Back in 2003, Lange was up against three Barloworld riders and Jock Green (HSBC) when he got repeatedly worked over by all four only to end up getting the silver. Green had already secured a spot on the Barloworld team remember?

Today in Bloem, it was Lange?s turn to benefit from a numerical advantage. That?s racing! That?s what makes road cycling so interesting. It?s not always the strongest rider that wins ? in a time trial yes, but not in a bunch race.

SL-C - Mate of mine's dad had an ad running in the moviehouse. He had free tickets. Pigalle in Sunnyside. We could not wait for the new Fantomas movies to hit the circuit. Louis de Funes was the frenchie inspector. I suppose in some way he was the french Pink Panther of the day!!!!!!!
