When my boet was 8, he jumped a stop street on his BMX. The traffic cop followed him home and later that evening came back and asked to chat to my dad. Don't know what they talked about, but judging by the thrashing my boet got, I could only imagine what was said.

Moral of the story? The cops were out doing their jobs. Same goes for taxi's, busses etc. If they were on every corner, we'd all cycle and drive like Miss daisy too.

Unfortunately human nature dictates that we all need to be policed to ensure that we do the right thing.

Cyclists moaning about cyclists on a Internet forum.

Clever.

I hope someone can see how hilarious (And tedious) this is.....Clap

Go stand at any intersection.

Within 30 minutes you will have ALL of the following:

Car skipping robot

taxi turning left/right in a non turning lane

taxi driving in the yellow lane

BMW driver chatting on his cellphone

At least two chicks that will chuck their cigarette buds out the window

pedestrian crossing while not allowed

cyclist skipping robot

Littering from pedestrians

So PLEASE..........FFS.....PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????  stop bitching and moaning on Monday about the MODE OF TRANSPORT USED and use you brains to figure out it is not WHAT you drive/ride but rather the TYPE OF PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

South Africans on avg are self righteous' date=' inconsiderate, rude biltong vreters that has NO respect of his fellow human being.

Sadly this will not change.Clap

Bitch about it?  Won't help.

Do something about it in your OWN space and way.....sure....go for it...

I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT THOUGH......ClapClap

Hilarious and tedious indeed, sort of like raising and disciplining a child isn't it.

As parents we tell the lightie, no you can't do that, no you can't do this. Es you have this but then I want that. We trade and barter discipline with kids everyday.

Now I apply what you are saying to the discipline and it appears that you fit the moddel of obstinate child who is ungovernable and wayward. I'm sure you;re not that person in real life but you try to project that image.

Then we say we must govern ourselves, but if we can;t demonstrate self governance on an internet forum what chance is there of selfgovernance out on the road. The kit we drape ourselves in proves as much anonymity as does an internet forum.

If pointing h=out bad behaviour receives the sort of treatment an obstinate child deliver its parents when bad behaviour is pointed out then I think we need to take a long hardlook in the mirror and ask an adult if we are mature enough to even be rding bikes. Judging form some responses here, we are a forum of lighties aged not greated than 8 or 9 yrs old because I see this type of response in my 8yr old step daughter.

I think we should all step out of ego's and take a look at the state of our community and ask if its ok?

From where I'm sitting it look pretty sick allthough dressed up with plenty of jewelry.

Flame away, I can take it. Afterall this is an internet forum and anonimity is guaranteed

Dude.....assumption is the mother......and you for sure is trying to get jiggy with mamma...........Wink

And that is my point.......why try govern something that is ungovernable?  Nature will kill the weak at some point.  You run slow.....you will be eaten.....you skip lights....you will get killed.

aaaaaa....but here is the FLAW in this whole thing/thread/ALL the worthless threads dated back to 2004 about this issue......

NO ONE HERE ON THIS FORUM IS THAT CHILD........Big%20smileClapClapClap

AND WHO WILL BE THE PARENT?  EVERYONE?

And if they were.....no one would admit it on an INTERNET FORUM.....real life' date=' you can catch the culprit.....internet....she's faceless....

Firstly identify the culprit........flaming and ranting on a cycling forum where everyone are red light stoppers, law abiding, church going citizens are a TOTAL waste of energy.....

So.....IDENTIFY......SIMPLIFY.....

Identify:  See that club skipping a light?  Identified.  That person without a helmet?  Identified.

There are 120 000+ cyclist in SA..........bitching on a internet forum which has 500 active logins with 3000 faceless member, to me, is stupid IMHO.  Ouch

Simplify:  Approach and reprimand.   Easy hey?

No need typing 500 words SA on a Monday.  No need waste time?  You can use that time to get fitter......do some gardening.......ooooh heaven forbid, ride your bike.....SleepyShockedTongue

Just approach the person and seeing that you have this huge desire to govern people you don't know ("appears that you fit the model" of law enforcer), tell him to stop doing his sin or else......and here comes the hard part......else what?

That is why it is much easier to come shout and moan at faceless internet cycling geeks?  Conflict is a problem......

I think we should all step out of ego's and take a look at the state of our community and ask if its ok?

From where I'm sitting it look pretty sick although dressed up with plenty of jewelry.

Much agreed.....in general, the human race is not pretty.....CryDeadCryDead

thanks for advise on how to spend my time. I shall place this advise under very careful consideration and determine what is a more effective course of action other than preaching to the converted who are non converted.

Let Denialism live.

I did not want to offend you, I just don't think that you will achieve anything with this long list of "To Do"

I see workers riding on the wrong side of the road every morning while the pedestrain's are walking on the wrong side of the road.

Alos remember, a bicycle is main way of transport for the very low income group, and to get them to pay for a licenses is well, you see my point.

Also the traffic police is already busy, trying to make the roads safer, so I can not see that they will have the time to spend cyclist.

As much as what jakes_1 comment was uncalled for (you did apologise but I bring it up to illustrate a point), so was GoLefty's comment about all roadies being Lycra clad homosexuals staring at someone else's behind.

Your comments in general are good. You did lose the plot when you started on that little tirade.

I think we need to temper the entire thread here. Have you called Kevin Evans a Homo? Does he not race in Lycra as well. Oh right, Lycra on the single track is cool.

As much as what jakes_1 was hauled over the coals, I think you can muster up a many apology as well.

i think the idea of a licence is a good one. if the serial number of your bike was registered with your licence, it would create a database of bikes, which could help in returning stolen or jacked bikes to their owners.
