A man was killed and his daughter seriously injured when their car rolled several times on the N17 before Rondebult Road in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon, paramedics said.
The man in his late 30s and his 16-year-old daughter were heading home from a 24-hour cycle race when he lost control of his Nissan Fortuner around 2.30pm. It rolled several times and landed on the sidewalk against a tree, said Netcare911 spokesman Chris Botha.
The man died on the scene. The girl was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition. The cause of the accident was not known.

Might be off topic.  But untill Toyota start admitting that there is a problem, it can be solved.  But I think it then admits liability.   Will not touch a Toyota with a barge pole,  the suspension issues can be sorted......  at a cost of R12000 for an Old Man Emu suspension from Australia

If its a Fortuner then its one more victim to the growing list.?

Why do you say that?

They are known for rolling very easily ! Very sad to hear about the accident !

Kranswurm...  the problem is with the suspension,  it is top heavy.  On a dirt road it is a handfull.  Know of 5 people who have totalled their Fortuner's.

Yip, this was discussed at length here after that cycle lab (i think) mechanic crashed on the way back from sani 2 c or some race...

Kransworm, the D/cab does not share the same chassis/suspension as the fortuner...

Sad news either way. Hope the daughter recovers.

D/Cabbie does not have the same suspension problems as the 'old' Fortuner and is not as top heavy - apparently all has been sorted now.

The Toyota 2x4 D/Cab is still a hand-full on gravel roads.....!!!  $x4 is ok as it is heavier at the back.

P.S. - Towing with a Fortuner is a nightmare!!! (bigger loads)

My neighbour sold his 2 months after he bought it. He said he came close to trouble a few times on dirt roads.

Yes I drove past minutes after it happened.  Put a real damper on a fantastic weekend.  It was a Fortuner and the chap that died in the accident still had his team colours on from the race. Orange and black. Condolences to all family and friends.  It was hard to accept that only a couple of hours earlier we raced together sharing the same track.  RIP

Another TOYOTA Fortuner victim. Cry  Neil Frazer was nearly a victim of

one of these vehicles.

When will they ban the things...?
