Defaced W309 Cyclists Signs in the Cradle

Did anybody notice the Cyclists signa that has been defaced with a red line spraypainted throught it.

 

I wunder if the Cradle residents are still angry or are the cyclists still behaving badly....... I suspect both!!!!!!

It still beats me that there is no such grudge against the bikers not regarding any road rules in the Cradle with their bikes that seems to have no exhausts at all. The cacaphony of noise pollution and the lack of respect exhibited by bikers far exceeds the so called "danger" and inconvenience caused by slow cyclists. It seems that they regards the Cradle Roads as their own racetrack.

 

I wonder if the moaners and groaners in the Cradle itself are making the same threats against bikers??????

I heard a biker (I'll keep it as anonymous as possible) telling how he red lined his motorbike going past Teak Place going up to 140/160km/h just to overtake a friend who was riding 'too slowly'. This happened a week or two ago

 

The bikers love the area as it is a 'quiet' and unpatrolled stretch of road. Who cares about speeding? so long ass the bicycles just ride single file

 

I'd say the Cradle area needs regular traffic policing over an extended period on weekends!

Slightly off topic, read Donovan Fourie's article in the Jan09 BikeSA (the one with Honda VT cruiser on) of his review on 2 PGO scooters..somewhere he loses the plot and goes on about the effect of the 94.7 road closure etc. and how stupid cyclists/cycling are. I recall a sentence in the article "the road belongs to the bikers"..He's done a lot of damage to the bikers image with his article.

 

Having said that I still have a lot of respect & gratitude for the thinkbike bikers marshalling/helping out at clubrides/races. There are bikers out there behaving themselves but I have encountered a lot of lunatics out there endangering the lives of other road users..

I reckon there's sstill some tension there.

 

We saw the signs last week and also had an incident with a speeding

motorist in a big BMW X5 who hooted at every cyclist he saw no

matter how they were riding. I'm sure he'll get over it...

You won't get over it being hit at +200km/h by a biker who tried to skeem 20cm past you, because you will be DEAD. The question is will your loved ones left behind get over it?

 

I recall from a previous cradle thread on the hub where a biker came of his bike and crashed into a fence. Luckiliy he hit no one else. He didn't survive to tell about it.

 

But as Maccelari said its cars too. Cyclists should not be the only ones to be blamed by cradle residents.

Its clear that the grafitti is aimed at motorcyclists (cuz we're great and they're crap).  It's just there isnt a sign with a motorcycle on to deface so this is the mext best thing that they hav to use to get their point across.

Watched an prog on supersport. The guy raved about this bike. The where testing it at Sabie. The second last day of the Panorama spring to mind, the peace of road after Long Tom. They did have a on board camera... The dude did not even slowed down and went over a stop. They are really educating there watchers
