I am very impressed with CRC and UPS......  I placed an order for goodies from CRC and Thuesday and yesterday (Thursday) I had it in my hand!!!  I am impressed.....

I ordered tires, DVD, Elbow, guards and Joplin remote kit.....

I did try about 5 LBSs before going to CRC but none could help me with ANY of the bove items.....

I guess CRC is now my LBS !!!TongueTongueTongue

Yup, I also had fantastic service from them.  Bought a trailer for my son and the kit to turn it into a stroller.  The trailer I wanted wasn't in stock and turned out it would only be in stock just before Xmas so I took a different model trailer instead.  Only problem was that they didn't change the stroller kit to be the one for the new model.   It was my fault as I should have asked them to change it.  Can't expect them to read the whole order.

When I emailed them about it to find out if I could get the correct one, they said they would ship it straight away.  They blamed themselves for not having checked the complete order to see if anything else was affected and sent for free, including the shipping.  The only think I had to pay was a little VAT.

There after sales service was also excellent.  We were having a problem fitting it to my full suspension bike and they were extremely helpful in solving the problem.

Definite thumbs up from me.  If only I could get the same service from the local LBS's.

always much quicker to JNB than to cape town......plus UPS is a proper courier service so should be with you on under a week.......but then you pay for that.

did you UPS charge you to customs clear the goods or juts make you pay for the vat/duties when the van arrived at your house?

My recent CRC order was packaged in 2 separate boxes. It is obvious why they did this - much easier, so no problem with it in principal.

Unfortunately they did not clearly label it as one order although they attached the same invoice for the complete order to both boxes.

Parcelforce then shipped it as two separate orders instead of an order consisting of 2 boxes.

You can guess what SA customs made of that...

The 2 boxes got checked by different customs officials and both get hit with the VAT for the full order according to the invoices attached. On top of this one customs official gets confused and processes the order as tools instead of bicycle parts, so it gets hit with duty too.

Post office refuse to hand over the order without payment, saying it needs to go back to customs if I want to dispute the duty. The invoices are attached to the boxes which post office do not want to hand over so all I knew at that stage is that the duty is very high and wrong, but can't figure out why.

I wanted my stuff so decide to pay the wrong duty and see if I can claim it back later. Once I had all the documentation, the problem was clear.

I contact CRC explaining the problem and ask if they can provide written confirmation that the order was only sent once so that I can try to claim from SA customs.

Reply from CRC: send the customs invoice to them and they will refund the excess duty and VAT paid! Few days later the refund showed on my credit card account!

Well done CRC!! Clap Happy customer who will order again!

(perhaps I should still fill in the claim form which SA customs sent me... Evil%20Smile)

ja once they sent me the worng saddle I ordered, I returned it and the sent the right one and the refunded my the costs to send the worng saddle back and all the vat,, handling etc, that I paid for the wrong saddle, then labelled the correct saddle with a low value, so I ended up not paying anything on that.....so yeah, mistakes do happen but they are good at sorting them out.......

thats the difference if you pay for delivery & expect free delivery like most of the Hubbers around here.

Disagree: i reckon it's a consequence of purchasing something over crimbo, which often results in stuff getting genuinely lost, or lost via theft. Mostly, it just takes damn long.

Mountain Lion: that's simply staggeringly good service. What's the chances any single LBS in this country will do that? I'm particularly fond of Action Cycling and Load n Go in Cape Town, but I'm not confident that level of service will even register 'upstairs'.

Had only but good service myself. Got Ultegra 6601 cranks with BB after VAT for R1700 and they retailed in SA for R4300 excl BB.

Waited 5 working days on free del and everythig was fine.

Happy with CRC hope the local LBS's come up with some sort of answer to this as they too provide a service as well.

CRC gives so much better service and price.

I purchased a MTB for my daughter in Durban on 25th October 09.

As she said she wished to use it for communting as well as off road I specified M647 pedals and was initially quoted  R 1160.00 for them, but managed to get them reduced to R918.00. When she took delivery of the bike she was told the pedals  were out of stock and was given some other loan pedal until the M647's arrived.

I went to the shop  in December and they still had not arrived, so I ordered from CRC with some other stuff and got them 8 days later for a total landed price of R 550.00 - less than half the original quote.

Cyclesphere have yet to let my daughter know that the pedals have arrived - which they assured me they will as soon as they do!

CRC will put many LBS's out of business if they continue with their crappy service and high prices.

Sorry, herewith some answers:

I always go for UPS - unless I am not in a hurry (took about a week and a half for stuff to arrive through the Royal Postal Service).

Yes, the pitch up at my house and I pay them with a check

Otherwise you can pay UPS before hand.......just phone them get the outstanding ammount and pay via EFT.

My last order was R2000.  paid R350 for taxes and R370 for UPS (instead of R320 for post).

The only wait you have with CRC and Royal Mail, is when it gets to SA Customs, SA's service delivery is extremely poor not only when it comes to Postal Service but all other services in general in SA.... The delay is within SA and not with the Royal Mail.... Very, very sad..... Cry
