Danger Dassie Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Epic only helps if you're part of the clan. Williams you have to wait forever to get help The clan? What clan? Like Survivor, that thing? Have to say, this hasn't been my experience at all. I've been helping somone get into the sport, unfortunately she's down in CT. So the best I can do is let her come back to me with sales talk and I can advise from there. One character tried to sell her (a complete newbie) a 70k bike. She went to the 'ride before you buy' at Tokai, Epic were and are being absolutely helpful with her. I've spoken to them a bit as well.So haven't really experienced this clan thing. Maybe I should ask, there could be a t-shirt involved Williams, I couldn't comment. Only going on what I've heard from a number of folk.
Baldrick Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Cycle Maintenance Centre!!!!!!Best service and good prices.I'll vote for them as well if they were on the list In Salt river? They are on BMC - Bicycle Maintenance Centrenot that shopCycle Maintenance Centre is in Plattekloof
TYGA Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 "Williams you have to wait forever to get help" Awesome guy, awesome shop, great place if you want to perve and talk bikes but certainly not when you're in a hurry to get something done! In Stellenbosh, Mason's Bike Inn gets my vote. I've never been to another shop where guys bend over backwards to help you out like he does and where they are willing to make your emergency THEIR emergency. If it's good enough for the Caveman and Dan Hugo it's good enough for me! XTC12010-02-05 04:08:32
Chubba Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Wow there are a lot of shops in Cape Town, many i have never heard of ------need a bigger pole!
Christopher Brunsdon Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Well an LBS is a personal preference, I like Williams (and yes, you do kinda need to take a number and wait at times) as he is always prepared to spend some time explaining things. But then again Cycle Addiction are only my distant second choice but my neighbour, soon to be ex-roadie, on the other hand prefers them to Williams.
Ratty Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Geco Cycles for me by a mile. Great service etc even though I ride a brand that don't sell. I've had a bad experience at 2 of the shops on the list and also one of the other ones mentioned.
Chubba Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 can someone post the details for crown, epic, Cyclefunatic and Cycle Maintenance Centre. Lekka to know there are more spots to shop around at.

Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Gecko Cycles, Fred Coleske, not bad at all, specially on the mtb side. They listen and Fred is always available to speak in person to you.
bak2basiks Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Geko cycles, Mason's, Flandria, Cycle Maintenance Center and CWC.... all have helped me.....sometimes I pay, sometimes its for free....
Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 snoek, I will not recommend CMC, because they will not do a emergancy fix unless you book in advance. It happened to me, so I dont rate them
Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Oh, its a stupid poll, because you can just sit and click the button till christmas to chase the votes for one particular shop.
Chubba Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Oh' date=' its a stupid poll, because you can just sit and click the button till christmas to chase the votes for one particular shop.[/quote'] True - pointless to have a poll utility if it does not record that a user has cast a vote on the poll!
