nellie Posted June 19, 2007 Share Silverback. Also have the Alpine - it comes out with a lockout(lackable...whatever) shock - nice gadget and lovely to play around with. Some people swear by lockout shocks, some say it's a waste - personally i like it. I'd say it's a comfy enough ride (when considering the price), shock's not too bad, Alivio groupy does it's job without hassles. Quite a decent frame that's not too expensive and it's light enough. Great breaking innitially...but wears out after a little while...so might just want to check that or upgrade it after some time. Hope it helps.nellie2007-06-19 09:35:

Frosty Posted June 19, 2007 Share My 2c worth... I borrowed a Silverback (not sure what make) for the Magalies Monster and Sabie Shenanigan. It was basic as basic came: V-brakes, no lockout, hard-tail, 8 gears, etc, etc. I managed fine with it - in fact I finished in 25th place on the Shenanigan - had more to do with my (road) fitness/strength than technical ability. The only problem I had was shifting - the rear derailer worked opposite to what I was used to (if the cable were to break, the derailer moves up to the granny gear). For R2770 I would ride the Silverback. If, one day, I decide that MTB is not my thing, then I haven't wasted too much cash. If I decide that MTB is my thing, then I can always look for a more expensive/appropriate bike.Frosty2007-06-19 09:49:
Gaan kyk by die link.... http://www.bbbparts.com/products/bike_parts/brakes/roadbrakeshoes/bbs01.html Lekker briek!!!!!!
shaunh Posted June 19, 2007 Share Spidey, for a few hundred rand (if you enter more than once to increase your chance of winning), you could win a complete MTB gruppo including wheelset. All you will then need is a frame with bars and a seat!Enter and win!!!
Sal daai probeer...oom is 'n ster!
So ongeveer 30 grade vanaf horisontaal.
nellie Posted June 19, 2007 Share Hahaha! Ek dink hy is nou weg daar. Rainbow Construction dink ek??????? nellie Posted June 19, 2007 Share Ek sal ja - het al vrek baie by ou Patric in daai workshop geleer!
peloton Posted June 19, 2007 Share The lockable shock is handy for onroad application - but not so much for offroad - but is completely unneccessary imo. For a novice starting out the framebrand & groupset are not important aspects, but proper bikefit is. Make sure the bike fits, and you'll have a happy rider. The bike with the better fit should be the natural choice. Nothing wrong with the Silverback. Then again, nothing wrong with that Trek!
