So they just sat, sat and sat.

 

When the speed picked up they jostled and jostled and jostled.

 

When some VB's started to work nicely and it seemed like we're going to catch the break-away they, the ladies, blocked, blocked and blocked(unintentionally of course but very inexperienced and unproffesional)

They never took a turn at the front but positions no 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 is where they wanted to be.

 

Needless to say, some of them had the strength to pip us on Vissershok and Odendaals.

 

Racing ladies? Some of the best in this country?

 

...??? what to do,...very frustrating.

 

They deserve to have their own starting group

They should have their own starting - can't really call it ladies racing if they just get a ride with vets all the way.

Didn't they try something awhile ago with only awarding prize money if they go over a certain speed? Seems like it is a recurring problem. I have been in a few races with A bunch where we have caught the racing ladies.

No, just move them further back, if they dont like the pace there, they can up it at any time

Yeah, look, there's no doubt that the ladies riding with the men must really discourage the ladies to attempt to break away. They know the men will close them down without even trying, their pace is just too high. Their only hope is to get into a small break with some stronger men, but even this presents it's problems. The sport is compromised by the ladies riding with the men...I think I'm right in saying it's always destined for a sprint for the line.

Yeah, especialy after it was admitted that some of these ladies then dropped the STRONG guys up Vissershok and Odendaals. Go Figure.

Why should their sex be of any importance, if they were all male would there be an issue?guys always hang on the back and dont work and then pass you on the hills or the finish line, unfortunately its the nature of the sport.

You can be much weaker than the other riders, but still manage to hold on to the group. And remember, these girls normally wheigh about the same as a fart, so they climb much better than heavier VA/VB vets (well, me in any case...)
