Should I take it easy this week?

or

Should I increase my effort?

or...

Should I just continue as normal?

This is my first race(100km) and I'm still very inexperienced, so thats why I'm asking. The race is on Sunday(21st March)

__________________________________________________________________________________________

When I continue as normal:

Tuesday - Friday: 38km @ 31km/h ave (hilly terrain)

Saterday: 60km @ 34km/h ave (hilly terrain)

You cannot add to your fitness in the next week, but you can subtract from your rest up to the race. Do your norma Tuesday ride, and then ease up for the rest of the week. Maybe do an EASY ride on Thursday, but skip the Saturday ride in total.

For XC racing:

Race = Saturday

Week before:

Last hard session - Tuesday

Wednesday - Intermediate distance slow ride on tar (+/- same as your estimated race time)

Thursday - passive rest (no bike)

Friday - active rest (very slow riding), with some warm-ups and a few (3 - 5) steep short technical hills (getting the blood pumping).

Drink 2 litres carb loading fluids fromThursday per day.
