Licensing - Again

This is the response I got from the organisers of the AmaShova regarding the licensing issue:

HI Theo,<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks for your email. Yes you do have to be licensed to ride in the 106km race. If you do not belong to a club then you can buy a temp lic at registration and you will be seeded with all the temp lic cyclists. This is the norm for all races in KZN and JHB. Let me know if you need any more info.

Many thanks

There we go, looks like I will not be riding the AmaShova as a cyclosport license requires club membership. Pity, will have to work on my boep...

You must have stopped reading your e-mail. I highlighted your alternative if you do not belong to a club. Your boep can wait.WinkLOL

Jip, but this group (temp lic) starts from the very back of the seeded riders, so you can sweat more and wish you belonged to a club...

Is there a problem with Gauteng clubs that people don't want to belong to them or what?

...or any club for that matter?

Anyway - registered riders always start before non-registered riders in all races, don't they? All the races I have done, registered riders start before the rest.

The problem many of us (I'm generalising to the few I have spoken to) are experiencing at present is lack of communication. There's nothing wrong with the way most of the clubs in Gauteng operate, but mention the word "licence" and all sorts of explanations are given except what you want to hear.

When collecting a number from Cyclelab, they expect you to pay R30 for a temp licence despite your efforts to convince them that you are a paid up member of an affiliated club.

I don't have any of the mentioned problems with my club.  Our secretary handles all licence aplications (cyclo and full).  It then gets posted to the aplicants within 4 to 6 weeks.

These things should be done for you by your club management, that is why they are there

Guys

Problem lies with members not checking that their club is doing what should be done for them has YOUR CLUB actually ahnded over their dues to the province and ensured your licence application is forwarded as well.

ONCE AGAIN FOR THIS YEAR ANY MEMBER REGISTERED WITH CGC THROUGH A CLUB OR DIRECTLY WILL NOT NEED TO PAY THE DAY LICENCE AND WILL BE SEEDED ACCORDINGLY (I use a copy of club receipt to prove I am affiliated to CGC, no problem).
