MintSauce Posted June 17, 2010 Share Well, I wasn't expecting any love from hubbers on this one so the responses don't really surprise me. The bottom line is that I get to decide what I use my data and time on. If I decide to spend time and data on the hub, then that's my business. Companies sending unsolicited mail abuse my rights/time/data/energy etc etc and I have NO respect for them. That is what this rant was about. If voicing my opinion on something that irks me makes me a cock or a tosser, then so be it (BTW, thanks guys...very mature) As for Shamus, I haven't heard anything from him. The other company in question has been very responsive and apologetic, but are still at a loss as to how my address got onto their mailing list since they insist they only email subscribers....who knows
koukie Posted June 17, 2010 Share yeah and your subject heading is also very mature..... thats my opinion. For me spam is people trying to sell viagra to you, or hey you have won the lotto!!! etc..koukie2010-06-17 13:36:

fandacious Posted June 17, 2010 Share For me spam is people trying to sell viagra to you' date=' or hey you have won the lotto!!!?etc..[/quote']And the difference is....? minty - I agree with you 100% unsolicited mail trying to sell me something is not acceptable, and is considered spam. Just because its about bicycles instead of viagra, doesnt make it any less obnoxious.

Minty you naughty boy for voicing an opinion based on solidly thought principles . Its good to see people stand by their principles, but Tsk Tsk ... now go stand in Fands corner. AfreekduSoet Posted June 17, 2010 Share Very poor form to come mouth off here before contacting the companies to find out where they got your info from. Did you at least have the balls to forward them a link to this thread?
MintSauce Posted June 17, 2010 Share I had to unsubscribe from Bicicletta's newsletter twice. That's why I added his name. And on this thread he admits to not having sent any mails for a few months, so we still don't actually know whether they took my name off their list. Bicycle Power Trading doesn't know where they got my address. I was in correspondence with them before posting. But in case you were in any doubt about how I feel, let me be clear.... I don't care what they think
Troi Sport Posted June 17, 2010 Share I had to unsubscribe from Bicicletta's newsletter twice. neither of the addresses you have sent me appear in our database but just to be sure I have added them to our exclusion list. the mailing program will "refuse" to send to your adresses

Wyatt Earp Posted June 18, 2010 Share Only BPT sent a newsletter yesterday. In this instance Bicicletta are not guilty, they have not sent anything for ages. Minty I have always enjoyed your posts, something must have pissed you off this time, hope all turns out well. Athough Minty got tongues wagging and people upset, he might have achieved something. Some companies and peeps seriously DO need a wake up call with their aggressive marketing. To me this is spamming: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=85962 No need to bump us in to oblivion. (Sorry for pointing this particular thread out, it's just one example of many) There are too many peeps that use the hub to try and build their businesses, now THAT grates my ass. The correct way would be to get hold of admin and ask permission, the next step would be to offer sponsorship in the form of a pop up advert on the forum. Sheesh, talk about bush marketing. No reason to make such a fuss, secondly if they havent sent any communications in months then they can hardly be considered a spammer. If this is the case they are just your average run of the mill company sending a monthly communication. You take such offence to spam, you should maybe join the Internet Engineering Task Force and solve the worlds spamming problem for us. Becuase i am sure you are making the exact same amount of fuss, with all the porn, and viagra, and work from home mailers that actually really spam. Or are you just upset with the companies mentioned above becuase their content does not include porn and cheap viagra? Seriously dude, if you unsubscribe and it did'nt work, just add a rule to block them, its not rocket science.
