Any pointers as to which of the 1023 pages is applicable to bicycles

this is just for the ordinary customs duties. Remember, there are other schedules that hey also charge u on if you import a bicycle, like Ch1 P2A and B.

We recently imported (CRC) a group order (about R12 000 iirc) including everything from components and tools to lubes and cleaning products. We just paid VAT and a processing fee (I think it was R60).

EDIT: There were no clothing-type items in the order.

Off topic but I want to buy a set of Bose speakers from the USA. They cost R16000.00 here and $799.00 on Amazon. Unfortunately to protect other countries (rip off) markets they may not ship out of the USA. I could get them delivered to my aunt in the USA and she could ship them. I assume I only pay VAT on electronics?? Then the price would be R8200.00. Anyone know what it costs to courier a 32kg package to SA from the USA?

It is gonna be bad no matter what shipping type/speed you choose.

EDIT: Also, speakers are bulky. Most shipping companies or couriers calculate dimensional weight which would be more than actual weight. Many couriers have shipping cost calculators on their websites. Try a few.

It won't be bulky, just heavy. They are the Bose cube speakers with a sub.

Based on experience I would hazard a guess at 300-400 dollars. Some websites like the DHL one have a calculator that will give you a fair indication of the price.

Maybe not worth it then, could still probably save R4k but then no warranty.

So what would happen if you were to buy a bike and ask the shop to send it over in say three parts? Maybe the wheels in one. The frame with derailers etc attached and then the rest... Save on the full bicycle import duties?
