If you are into multisports there are few running clubs(with a cycling problem etc) that you can get your cycling and running licences through.  Florida and the AR Club comes to mind in JHB.  In Pretoria there is Enduro.

turk' date=' also have a look at where their club rides start from. you dont want to have to ride/drive 15kms to start a club ride.

www.cyclelab.com and www.club100.co.za are the biggest with plenty of detail on their website. Dont know much about cresta wheelers, but haven't heard anything negative.

During the weeks there are rides from a garage on main road (not too far from Randburg  aka "the engen to engen classic" Wink and there are normally a couple of groups to choose from.
[/quote'] jip i have heard of the E TO E, where exactly is the garage on main, any landmarks?

You could join MTN Club 100 - Club fees is R650 if I am not mistaken.

Their club kit only costs around R600-R700 and they have tents at 94.7 and Argus where any club member is welcome to have some drinks and food after the race.

MTN sponsored a free kit to everyone in the club doing the Argus this year so we holding thumbs for the feature generosity :)

Their club rides start from Sunning Hill and working on some more routes - to be confirmed.

Turk 182 & Oiltrash, Cycle Lab Supercycling Club Nationally caters for all strenghs of cyclists and families...... We believe that including the wife and kids makes life easier that way everyone has fun. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Currently the Subs are as follows

Joining Fee {which is a once off} R400.00 main member

Additional family members N/C

Subs per year {Jan - Dec} R400.00 per main member

Additional family member is R200 per person

Club Kit which consists of a Bib Short and Shirt is R400.00 per person.

As we are 1/2 way through the year the subs have dropped to R200 per main member and R100 per family member.  As you are aware the racing season only starts in CT in September.

Cycle Lab Clubs are at all the Big events i.e. 94.7, Argus and Amasohva were you get full hospitality food, drink at NO extra cost which also includes a leg massage..... Cape Town Club go to all League events were the club driver is there with the back up vehicle for members broken down on route, they set up Gazebo's and offer free softdrinks and a leg massage to every member at NO extra charge. So if you take into account everything cycle lab offer for a mere R1200.00 per main member and R600 per family member I dont think you can go wrong.

I am sure you are aware that Cycle lab Milnerton will be open in September meaning that we will be having some club rides out in the north as well. Cape Town have also just launched the MTB section under the banner of Cycle Lab Supercycling Club so you have the option of both at no extra charge to you.

Should you require any further info please pm me and I will gladly assist.

you forgot about the free plug you get on Supersport Supercyling which p****s off most people. i would rather join a club where you are seen as a cyclist not a wallet full of dosh.

When I joined Club100 it was R600 joining fee + R400 annual membership. This included all the kit.

I have found all the people that I have chatted to on the saturday and sunday rides as friendly, never ride 4 abreast, but some disagree. I would imagine that cyclelab is the same.

Dont see the problem with riding 10kms to a clubride - good for extra mileage, and if you are a beginner you can just drive.

Quentin, do you ride on saturdays?
