bos: i you riding up Longmarket street from church street? Definite knee killer that. Even better when wet dry.gif. You can get a nice double dose of cobbledeegook, but instead of turning right into Yusuf Drv, continue down August street till you pass that takeaways/restaurent on your left, then turn right at the cobble road going all the way up to where Yusuf Drv turns into Upper Pepper street (You legs will thank you mid way up for what a swell guy you are treating them to moaar cobbles ;)), turn left and follow down to Lion street. Turn right onto lion's street, then first left into another cobble street down to Bryant (St Pauls Primary on your right). Then u back at the route you marked out when u turn right.

Tamboerskloof (belle ombre, Gimore Hill Woodside, and the one that links into Leeukloof drv) offers some of the nicest continuous, steep climbs next to Kloofnek without the coughcough of the passing traffic. The irritating bit is the varying gradient that really teases your legs. But they have awesome sets of stairs you can bomb down once done. The nice thing about those stairs: they are damn steep. sweet to gap and go from block to block, and them blocks are long in Tamboerskloof. Just jack up tire pressure before attempting ;)

Bro How do you know these roads so well! or were you peeping on the maps? I rode through bokaap after work and Im not sure which one is that steep effer, Im going to take your map and go check it out.. maybe on the mtbike first time. (cobbles are not so much fun to ride as they are to watch and dream about..Like lance said to Levi.. skidding on his ass over the cobbles like a used waterbottle.

@Luke, How would we get something like that going? Im Imagining saturday afternoons, or even sundays, Towns dead that time of the day and It can be real fun!

i scoped your map, but remembered the route and sort-of the street names I rode up (or tried riding! :) ). I've mostly done it in winter, cos town get's a tad hot in summer, and my DH sled doesnt have the gearing for that sort of inclines. Let me know how it goes, shouldn't be too hard for you, just a mild tickle in the legs and a slight tug on the lungs. ;)

I don't know but I know I miss this kind of riding - I'll always remember my time in London like this.

Law abiding cyclists, look away now.

If Uganda can do it...So can we!

That youtube clip Is the reason people hate cyclists! haha, Oh seesh I was just waiting for one of them to go down...close calls aplenty.

If you comute the same route you are not doing yourself favours by riding like that:rolleyes:

But lets keep that for london and the Crit for capetown, thats not what the authorities need to seeB)

Wonder who we need to talk to? Im willing to e-mail some people but Might need someone with more "weight"...

Yes you're right, this type of riding is highly irresponsible. I do not condone it. For display purposes only.

As for a crit in town, that would be tough to organise.. If this tour of SA thing comes off maybe an event at that level could swing it. If not a crit then at least for the Prologue. Imagine a prologue through Mouille Point and Sea Point ending at Camps Bay main road?

Ya that new " tour Afic du Suid" would make a nice stage for this tipe of thing.

Would love to have equivalent of killarny- wednesdays, but saturday aavys, In town..man, lets just post a thread on the hub and do it! 10 laps around the company gardens, Go! Traffic and all that is the same for all so Its neutral.
