Advice Needed:Compact vs Double vs Triple crankset

OK, So I am starting my favorite cycling past time again - researching a bike build. ( I sometime forget about the actual cycling bit in the research processLOL)

I am starting to research the bike build for my wife. Although she has not trained for about three years, I am going to build a reasonable bike. I am currently looking at 105 or veloce groupset and need advice on the this aspect. She is 1.6m tall and weighs 53kg.

Do I get a std double or compact or triple crankset for her? (and why)

Or are we charging now LOL

At least give me the satisfaction of a debate on shimaNO 105 vs Campy Veloce Big%20smile

But no - 1 hour and all I have is: nothing, nada, zip, niks njet, aikona, eish..LOL

Campag Compact & 12/25 cluster. Why, I have found that compact is way easier on the knees and makes climbing a breeze in comparison to a standard setup. Triple just looks like a pain to setup and maintain.

I can tell you to get a 50 crank length rather than the 52.5 regular length but otherwise the rest all has to do with how many gears you have and whether you prefer to push heavy gears or spin it out.

My personal choice would be a triple crank as it gives more choice.Thumbs%20Up But it is heavier...so maybe the compact if she likes to spin.

Does that help racman!!

Thx - Still chicken but no longer feeling like a loser LOL

a) C vs S - yes, the thread will go north - to NigeriaBig%20smile

b) I was thinking of compact and 12-25 but it is a little difficult to get and can get a good deal on triple. Triple's seem to be easier to get in these groupsets.

You can get a very good deal on a 2006 Campagnolo Veloce 10 speed triple at Solomons in Pretoria. I have already ordered mine and I am eagerly waiting for the courier to deliver it. I paid R1999 for it. I think that's a real stealThumbs%20Up!

compact with 12-25, campag or FSA/ 105 mix, or even shimano compact (never heard reviews though).

I think that the highest level groupset that should be allowed with a tri[ple is Tiagra Wink
