Reghard111 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Tell them Mampara, that is the exact reason why it can NOT be done! Anodising, nickelplating, chroming, nitriding etc is metal and finish specific, so unless you can magically remove the stanchions you are in for new ones...

What if you put the crown in a really big pot of boiling oil and then pulling the stancions out, while they are nitriding the stancions you can pass the time by frying up some chips and fish fingers in the oil and when the stancions are done and you've finished your lunch you can heat the crown up again and slide the stancions back in? You are so negative and dumb OPCrace.

How are you going to get it out of the crown?  i want to start by saying this is a pretty "tall order" and don't think it's not possible to do anywhere locally. I work in the manufacturing business and have used quite a lot of coating procedures / techniques on stuff that we've build in the past. Then also I must say that all coating process I know of, are applied as electrochemical processes in baths of some sort. Thus if you do find somebody who can do the specific coating and you were able to clean you stanchions (remove ALL the existing coating), it should be possible to dip the stanchions in the bath without removing the crown? Most guys only do pretty straight forward plating around here though, like anodizing, (aluminium) chrome, nickel, silver and zinc plating.
