RABUBI - how accurate is your FTP?

Spidy, we were loafing - D2D my Normalised Power was 319watts, this race only 293watts - much harder race.
Posted

My FTP is 300 Watts, based on my IDT sessions.

Only tested once on the road, 20 minte TT, came out at 332 watts x .0.95 = 314. But that was at a cadence of about 84, and I normaly ride a cadence of about 95. So I am working on 300watts at the moment.

1:38 per kilo.  Slowest of the year.

Forget the cadence, it's got nothing to do with your ftp.  IDT will always be a bit lower.  314watts looks about right.  Very difficult to do a 2h40 ride at an IF of 0.96.

So I should change back to 314 and recalculate the zones. If you re-calculate, there are 3 options, which is the one to work on, I use Coggan power levels. I am a bit new to this, please help!!

Did you create zones on the date you did your outdoor TT.  If so, delete the current zones that you have (based on IDT), and enter 315 as the FTP on the date that you did your TT.

Then re-calculate the power levels based on Coggan.  This process is not the most intuitive - it took me a while to figure out how it works.

From now on, if you find that your FTP has changed, select new zones, enter the date that you want your new FTP to become active.  Then select re-calculate power levels.

Bruce, I see that you had a max cadence of 188.

Is that an error, a glitch or can you indeed pedal as fast as something approaching a Ferrari F360 flat out in 5th ?
