I wanted to post this under the 'Doping' Forum, but see we don't have one yet...

Marion Jones has admitted that she used the Balco banned substances to family before she has to go public (BEEEG surprise this one...)

Also a 17 year old school boy was found positive when they tested two (yes, I said TWO only) Boland players during the Craven Week.  How big is this problem in rugby?  The reaction from the rugby union is a bit old school with "..of course a player isn't guilty until a heariung finds him guilty" and shows the ostrich mentality.

Wonder if any school boy cyclists are 'charging'???

Doping in rugby is rife. Mostly anabolic substances to increase size, strength etc. Was watching some old footage of Naas Botha on TV the other day. Either the players have become huge (through doping) in the past 15 years or they just make rugby kit only in very small sizes these days...

Sadly the youngsters feel the need to dope too. All comes down to huge pressure, familial, peer and societal.

Testing is also slack, with players being told when testing will be done... No surprise 23h00 knocks on the door at home like there is in cycling.

In those days our players were in awe of the size of the guys doing Gridiron and Ice hockey in the States. Looks like they found the recipe now........................

And if anyone beat France in the world cup they will be treated like an American winning the Tour. What if an All Black test positive in the quarter final, then the French will go through anyway

Creatine is not banned, but still viewed with some suspicion by many. It does definitely help increase size and strength (much of it claimed to be temporary and water-retention based), but not as dramatically as other (banned) products. Hope the schoolboy in this pic is a lifelong Pronutro fan...

Percy is a famous creatine product.  The team doctors openly talked about how he was one of the players who 'reacted best' to creatine (genetic bonus!)

I just finished Willie Voet's book on all the drug secrets and I vaguely remember him mentioning that creatine on it's own is useless, but with an anabolic agent it does wonders!

The point that interested me regarding Jones, is not that she doped ( a physique like hers isnt built on a few kelp and liver tablets) - I think doping was a given, but that she sued the chairman of Balco after he blew the whistle on her doping, I mean honestly, - what sort of people are these who live with such bald faced lies and deception.

Now in her 30 s she faces a jail term for her lying and deception, what a waste of a great talent who could have been so much more.

Just how the mighty fall,.......... she commanded millions in her prime just for an interview, now says she has assets worth less than $2000.00 and as it appears her "get out of jail card" is a fine of  $250,000.00, I guess she better start getting used to wearing orange.

I wont miss her.

What about all the youngsters that looked up to her and treated her as their role model??

Will they think it is 'normal' practice?

The punishment should severe enough to deter the next generation from doping...

That creatine is good sh!t !!!!

I know that Percy was a big Creatine user and met his personal trainer back in his WP days.  He used to refer to James Small and Percy being cosmetic gym freeks, doing it more for image than for rugbLOL.  One must not forget that when you have a personal sponsor like EAS for the past 10 years, it is easy to get big.  And if you look closely at Percy buil it is only his upper body that got bigger.  Pretty easy with all the suplements and gym work he has done to be that size after 10 years of serious gym work.  I am not saying that rugby players are not into the steroids but i will find it hard to believe if Percy has ever used some since playing for the Boks.
