Ok! If I break my piggy bank, raid my daughters education fund, sell petrol on my company fleet card for cash and send my wife out at night, I can come up with the Ammo for a Gary Fisher Collection Superfly Dual Sus!

I haven't seen many threads about this bike and I've been watching for a while now!

Good bike or not?

(And yes, I will be the d@#s being overtaken and laughed at for his bling bike!)

I have no personal experience with GF 29érs, but US mtb forums tend to regard GF as the one brand most likely to break - have a look on MTBR.com

In general regarding 29ers: getting the angles and chainstay lenght correct is much more difficult in a 29er, especially with the new 2x9/10 gearing trend. All of these problems are compounded when applied to a duely.

My advice will be to spend on a brand very well represented in SA and with lots of R&D to backup. GF has the R&D, unsure about how well it is backed in SA?

This week-end I went cycling with a buddy of mine on his new 29ér HT. He bought it from a German after the Claro Brazil Stage race - some boutique frame. What a disaster: ghost shifting, tyre rubbing on frame, awkward angles (short top-tube, long rake), etc.

The new Trek GF frames are different to the old ones. Not sure how good the new ones are but the old ones are terrible. I know someone who has been through two of hard tail version.. .they ride nicely but get very soft fast.

ROTFL! - BikeMonster!!

Let's put it this way, at a dinner on Tuesday night, a certain Mr Liggett was asked which is his favourite bird in SA, and he said it was my wife  , so if I send her out, I'm sure she'll generate some good returns!! :D

I hear what you guys are saying, but the frame comes with a lifetime warranty, and I have heard about the poor replacement times, but I think I'm prepared to risk that, as the warrantee has to be honoured on the first owner.

Frame OCLV Mountain Carbon co-molded main frame & rear swingarm, G2 Geometry, E2 head tube, ABP, topswing carbon link, 110mm travel

Front Suspension Fox F29 RL w/E2 steerer, custom G2 Geometry, 51mm offset crown, lockout force adjustment, 100mm travel

Rear Suspension Fox Float RP-2, custom "race tuned", 2-position ProPedal, external rebound; 7.25x1.75"

Wheels

Wheels Bontrager Race Lite FCC Disc 29, 28 hole

Tires Bontrager 29-2, 29x2.1"

Drivetrain

Shifters SRAM X.9, 10 speed

Front Derailleur SRAM X.9, direct mount

Rear Derailleur SRAM X.9

Crank Shimano M552, 44/32/22

Cassette Shimano HG8110 11-36, 10 speed

Pedals n/a

Components

Saddle Bontrager Evoke 2, chromoly rails

Seat Post Bontrager Rhythm Elite, 31.6mm, zero offset

Handlebars Bontrager Race Lite Big Sweep, 17 degree sweep

Stem Bontrager Race X Lite, 31.8mm

Headset FSA 57 Orbit, E2

Brakeset Avid Elixir R hydraulic disc brakes, 6-bolt; G3 160mm rotors

The only thing that worried me was the M552 crank, but who am I kidding, I can lose a kilo or two by having a good dump!

As for the rest, what do you guys think?

I think I've made up my mind, just looking for some backup!! Don't want to build a bike up.

RP2 only has two positions and doesn't lock out completely, but I've ridden one and it's fine.

Tubeless conversion and a couple of bar-ends, and the bike will far outperform this weekend warrior!

The other thing different on this bike, on the rear quick release, you have to take the whole skewer out to release the wheel!

Is this common?

I think he has a long way to go to get the geometry right, even though he was the major pioneer and driving force behind it.

Stubborn as heck and even managed to get FOX to re-design.

Thanks Gertjie Visser for the perseverance, thanks to you we can enjoy bigger wheels, but IMHO, the Genesis geo. just don't work with 20-T-9'ers.

Eish, no good comments about the bike???

Just when I thought I'd made my mind up!

Got a mate who got the Hi Fly Pro and loves it to bits. Came off a Scott Dual 26 and says it feels like he's riding his kid's BMX when he's on the 26 now.

Anyway, 26 vs. 29 ain't the debate!

Which 29 Dual Sus is! I really like this bike and was 95% convinced. :cursing:

Let me go sit on the cr@pper and think!!!!
