Cantalara's (spelling!!) "engine" ........ a really nice set of wheels would be great....

 

You mean Cancellara right? That doesn't class as one component, that is like 5!!!!! :) ive motorbike engines.

The regulatory reflectors for all my bikes and a rear brake for my fixie :blush:

I have heard a lot about these hubs being great, but what are they really all about. Is it looks or friction or? Maybe someone can explain why they so good?

Four things:

 

- Speed. Instead of the usual 2 pawls, these things have more than 100 contact points (not really pawls) which means there's no delay in power transfer as soon as you stomp on the pedals.

 

- Reliability. Workmanship is amazing, and the engagement mechanism very reliable.

 

- Porn. They look absolutely amazing. There are few things I appreciate as much as perfect CNC machining and polishing. That's of course why I ride a ball-burnished Intense as well ;)

 

By far the most important point though:

 

- SOUND! Have you heard someone on a bike behind you with one of these puppies?

I still think one of the sexiest items around come from Zipp:

 

Vuma Quad Crankset with Ceramic BB.

 

I would also mention the Zipp stem and bar, but one item here. :)
