Climbed Red Hill for the 1st time evva this morning - what a dream strength training spot!

Great views. tight corners to improve road handling, switchbacks for relentless climbing.

This is after meeting Black Hill for the 1st time last week.

This D Ville rider is having fun.

The Wall is the navy road used in the Cape Cobra, inbetween Da Gama Road and Red Hill. If you're doing the Cobra and haven't been up there you should definitely preview it before the race. It's a bumpy old concrete road on a blind hairpin off the main road. In the racing bunches there are often crashes as you turn on to it.

Is there a sign or something to say which road this is? Went around that way the other day and found the hill with the Scratch patch which looked roughly like the one on the map that was posted on another thread a while ago - and that was plenty steep. Didn't see another road at all??

Rhodes Memorial is an awesome climb for intervals...it's my practise pad. 700m of killer gradient, perfect for repeats.

Rhodes for me aswell.

The glen is nice and scenic. going down is loads of fun, if only cos u can overtake the cars in the corners :D

As a climb, I'd rate Kloofnek as worse than the Glen as there are no real variations in the gradient along the Glenn route.

That is the road to Da Gama Park - pretty steep yes. The Wall is further down, about 100m towards Simonstown. It's a crappy old concrete road with a barrier about 50m up.

Me and a mate were doing repeats there this morning - the wind was pumping like a mofo.

Thanks, Luke. Will have to investigate. And pray.

How useful is The Glen, between Campsbay and Signal Hill intersection?

Too many cars?

Too narrow?

Or is it kinda cool?

For me, I dont like descending the glen, too much sitting on the brakes, but then I'm a very average descender...not a daredevil. I like to Climb the glen, then take a right at the top and descend down camps bay drive. Camps bay drive is one of my favourite descents in the cape, fast, thrilling, exciting, and challenging as the road narrows and some cornering comes into play. You can then take a right at the bottom of camps bay drive and u got urself a nice triangular loop.

Rode up Price Drive the first time today. must say its a great place for training and doing reasonable intervals. Maxed out at 17% gradient in one place.
