When i take off the chain ther cranks spins for 2 spins.....my wheels for 10 minutes.

Something wrong with my BB?

Checking on your BB is another good reason why your chain should be fitted with a magic link.

To check your BB:

1) Fit a magic link (quick link, missing link, snap link...call it what you like) to your chain.

2)Wash your bike by putting it in a service stand, remove the chain and clean that in a bottle of degreaser. Shake like a cocktail.

3) Now inspect your BB. Put your ear against the seatpost, well out of harm's way. Spin the crank which is now liberated from the chain. If you hear smooth rumbling noises, your BB is fine. If you hear rough grinding, your BB is kaput. If you hear crushing sounds accompanied by pain, your head is too close to the crank and the pedal is hitting you in the teeth.

BB health has nothing to do with how much the cranks spin relative to the wheels. A very worn BB will spin freely when activated by thumb and forefinger whereas a new BB will have a lot of seal drag (good) and not spin at all.

You can change the bearings on anything that has bearings BUT in most cases you may need special tools like a good press to start with . Changing bearings on the "external" cap models in actually very easy and you can buy those bearings at half the price from bearing man , just take sample with .
