Does anyone have any experience using the new Apple Iphone4 as a GPS on their mountain bike. Also which is the best software to purchase from Itunes. Is there somewhere in SA to purchase the bike mount for the handset. I am somewhat concerned about battery life - do you need a backup battery ???

Sorry for so many questions !!

I downloaded a program called Endomondo, works like a dream, but I would recommend that you put it in a waterproof bag or in your camelbak. Battery life is not great, but should keep for a three hour ride.

The North Face - Trailhead also works well, but drains the battery. Also has a facility to search for MTB routes around your area and can also save your routes.

Keep mine in my camelbak.

I use it in a plastic jiffy bag with cycle meter installed. amazing bit of code:

battery life is just fine, 4 hour ride often uses a quarter battery.

i have used imapmyride and it works extremely well. Another app that looks great, is free at the moment is RunKeeper, it works for all outdoor activities.

Greenbean, I also use the Iphone 4 and have downloaded the following apps - miCoach (free app) from Adidas and Cyclemeter (US4,99). Both are brilliant. If you go to www.wahoofitness.com you find that they sell an ANT+ connector which comes with a pouch for the ANT and Iphone, bike bracket, HRM and a spare battery for US206 which they are shipping mid January. They also have an arm band holder as an option. Hope this helps. It is their bike 2 option. I am also going to order.

Ok lets not confuse Sportstracker for the Nokia phone with Sportstracker for the PC .....

Sportstracker for the PC can import Garmin data no problem!
