So water in the Hydration pack and Energy drink in the bottle, will this be sufficient for a long ride. Or must I let her put another bottle in the back pack?<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Depends on how much she drinks during a race. I usually use either a 2.1 L bladder or a 3L one depending on the duration that I expect to be riding.

I have also heard of people carrying two bladders - one filled with an energy drink and one with water.

Gather round and let me tell you a story.

On the Crater Cruise i, for the first time put energy stuff in my camelback. By halfway it was empty so I refilled it, mixed it lekker etc but it clogged up and I had blow into it so I could drink. To cut a long story short, by 75 km I was dead and wanted water, just good ole water. I had energy gels with me, but didn't take one of them.

Never again will I go without my water ........... now, how do I get that funny taste out of my camelback, HUH!

Clean it with Milton. Mandibles2007-10-23 03:15:31

I always ride with juice in my CamelBack (either Fit Carbo Supreme for important races or Energade for lesser ones).

I just clean it out with hot water as soon as I get back home and once a month or so go for the Milton's option ala Mandibles!

If AM or Freeride bikes shouldn't have bottle cages then why do they put the 'mounting holes' there huh huh?

Probably to fool unsuspecting XC riders into buying them anyway!

to hold the battery for your light.

Not only does it get muddy underneath' date=' but it takes a lot of skill to reach down and grab it as I'm almost kissing my handlebars when I do. I've only ever tried it at Northern Farm or when I am on tar. I perfer to keep my teeth intact. Wink

You can keep the mud off the drinking part of the water bottle with one of those covers they put on towbar electrical plugs. They seem to cover most bottle ends, but they do make it a mission to have a drink though.

And if anyone uses this tip for Bicyclings rider to rider tips, I want the shoes.
