any mtb baggy shorts good enough for rides like joberg2c etc?

I'm sure the TLD XC shorts are.

When you say "good enough" do you mean from a comfort, or from a durability point of view?

cos from a durability point of view the TLDs are awesome. Similar material to that used on DH shorts, and they have the elasticated crotch area (like DH shorts) so movement should be good. Removable (I think) chamois too.

Saw these at FPC in Paulshof:

i am concerned more with support and comfort. rode the epic with lycra (assos) last year and no real bum issues ,but like baggies and wonder if there are any that will be ok for long rides

I have that SA brand (indola me think) worst shorts ever) and a set of Fox. Love the fox shorts. Better fit, but you can't remove inner.

Baggies are so fake to tell the truth... The part inside is a fat mans roadie part inside the baggies. So the cloth hardly moves to cause discomfort.

I used Cape Storm AK47 shorts in the Freedom Challenge last year, no worries.(didn't finish, dropped out after 13days) The liner is the same as tights anyhow. I just can't take the sensation of my backside hanging out when I'm out & about in the countryside & at least you have pockets to stash things in & a bit of protection when the road comes up to meet you every now & again. The AK47s are excellent but out of circulation so I picked up a pair of Endura tech pants in the UK. They're the bees knees & you can order them from CRC.

I haven't ever tried baggys that I would sit in for more than 40kms (a couple pairs of Fox). But what ever you go with, make sure they are very comfortable. Someone pulled out on the second last day of J2c because of saddle sores. Thats just heart breaking. Personally, I would just stick to what works. Its not like its a fasion show anyway...

also bought inola they were absolute crap. The chamois seperated rom the shorts after 4 rides. Stay away from that brand,.

We passed a team with their baggies every day on the Joberg2C. Don't want to know about shafing.....

The guys in the cammo kit that were obviously trying to make a point?

Agree, mine only held a few rides, managed to save it before it was too late. What fox shorts do you have?
